Question: If you read all of the books in the Ugly Series PLEASE ANSWER!!?

When I read the first 3 books in the Ugly Series!. (Uglies, Pretties, Specials) The characters in the book all spoke English and they all seemed American, however in the 4th book (The Extras) All of a sudden they started being Japanese and speaking Japanese and taking english classes to learn how to speak better english!. Does anyone know what happened!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
