Question: Why is Jane Austen so popular now, nearly a hundred years after she died!?
How did Jane Austen go from Author of Boring British Romance Novels That No One Reads to The Picture of Well-Being in the Early Twenty-First Century overnight!? Why do so many women and girls idolize her and her characters!? My friend, who is a girl, says that she has a "huge crush on" Mr!. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice because he's "the perfect guy!." This, in addition to making me want to kill Mr!. Darcy, made me wonder where this worship of Jane Austen started and why!. *Why!!?!*Www@QuestionHome@Com

LOL!.!.!.you're so funny by the way!. Look this happens with most writers/artists of that age and era and even before that, especially female writers, whose work was not appreciated and taken seriously back then!. Perhaps your friend appreciates someone like Mr!. Darcy because she knows guys like that don't exist nowadays and she's fascinated by his personality!. I'm personally annoyed by him!. I think Elizabeth should have slapped his *** silly!. He's too arrogant for my taste!. However, I have to say that Jane Austen's writing is amazing and it's a tough read for some people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

First, it's almost two-hundred years since Jane Austen died!. Second, her books have not become more interesting in that time!. They have always been fantastic works of literature, and their endurance is testimony to that, but, as with many other classic writers, it was only after her death that her books became widely read and people began to realise how talented she was!.

I like Darcy!. I don't find him perfect by any means, but I find him vastly preferable to the current fictional heartthrob!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

During Jane Austen's time, women didn't write!. It was socially unacceptable!. The fact that she did not have a husband only added to disapproval!. also, the fact that she wrote about what was, and not what was supposed to be, earned her disfavor!.
But her stories are universal!. They are the realistic fairy tales!. They are what every girl wishes she had!. The heroines are the women that every girl wishes she was!. Take Lizzy Bennett from "Pride and Prejudice", for instance!. She is strong willed, passionate, intelligent, and so many other things!. She gets the gets the amazing, perfect guy!.
The amazing perfect guy is one that we could meet in our everyday lives!. He has flaws!. But out of those flaws come this wonderful person who you can fall in love with!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Jane Austen is actually going to be 200 years old in 2017!. She had a short life having only lived until she was 42 years old!.

From my perspective: Since Jane wrote such dramatic and romantic British literature, her works were just waiting to be noticed and by the time the 1970's rolled around [about the time she was really becoming], her stories came to life and people recognized what was never there!. She was known for the use of ironic themes often in romantic plots!. I have always enjoyed all of her books and the adaptations that other Jane Austen fans have created in movies, plays, or books!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think that the reason she is so popular now is because she was just born in the wrong century, when she was alive people didn't understand her writing because women were supposed to only be devoted to their husbands, and Jane never married so people thought her strange and stayed away from her books!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think she is so popular now because now books and information travel faster!. Now everyone can get any book (like by amazon or a livery) and before, probably, it was much harder to be able to read a good book, or to be known as a artist!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't know if you know this, but women in that time wasn't respected and was always being looked down on!. Now, with equality more present, Jane Austen's literary classics can be praised for its actual greatness!. (:Www@QuestionHome@Com
