Question: How can I make writing a novel synopsis easier for myself!?
I'm not publishing yet, but many people say that writing with a synopsis helps A LOT!.

So for weeks now, I've had a stab at writing a synopsis!. But no matter how hard I try, I'm continually rambling on for pages about irrelevant factors of the novel!. It's all in my head, but nothing makes sense on the page!. It's ridiculously long and doesn't quite capture the story the way I intended!.

Any tips on making it better quality and more concise!? Is writing this synopsis even POSSIBLE!?! :(Www@QuestionHome@Com

I prefer not to call it a synopsis, I call it a Skeleton!. Nothing more than the bare bones!. The BASIC story line such as,
rabbit moves to town
rabbit meets mountain goat
they become friends
lion tells rabbit about a rumor mountain goat started
they don't speak anymore
lion feels bad and eventually confesses
everyone is happy again
the end!.

also, you have to do what works for YOU!. Sure, a synopsis helps a great many writer!. Some writers take extensive notes about everything from plot points to description ideas before they even begin!. You just have to find your own groove!. If a synopsis doesn't work for you, don't do it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Use bullet points of one sentence each, or try writing a vague synopsis like you would read on the back of the actually published novel!. The synopsis doesn't have to "capture the story" in its entirety, its just supposed to give you a guide as an author in terms of plot so you don't get lost!. Rely on the actual novel body to "capture" the story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I learned from sites about synopsis making like:
Author assist!.com, helping writers to succeed
Timothy Halinan , writer's digest!. com, etc!.
