For the most part, a lot of the chapters will be approximately the same length!. However, I definitely have some chapters that are really long, and some that are way shorter than the rest!. It really depends on what needs to happen in each chapter!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've written two novels (self-published)!. The chapters of my books are written so as to cover a certain period of time and/or a particular activity or series of related events, so they vary in length!. Don't worry about the length of your own chapters when you write; the only criteria which you should employ is to make them long enough to be interesting and to cover the point or subject matter which you desire to reveal!. Some published authors, such as James Patterson who is a super Best Selling writer, write quite short chapters!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They're all different lengths!. Some are short, some are long, some can be a paragraph or even a sentence in length!. Sometimes I don't use chapters at all!. I'm a writer, not a mathematician, so I don't worry myself about "rules" and "guidelines"!.

When Shakespeare wrote his plays, some of his scenes were notoriously short compared to others!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Mine vary in lengths!. I've only written one serious novel, but in it:
My shortest chapter is 508 words!.
The longest is 2,907 words!.
The one that will be the longest when I'm done writing it will probably be around 6,000 words!.
The average chapter length is 2,454 words!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
