Yes, there are hundreds of thousands of free books out there!. http://www!.fictionpress!.com is full of them!. Or http://www!.fanfiction!.net if you are interested in books about existing characters!.

If you meant books which you'd normally have to pay money for, recent published books still in copyright, then I'm afraid you are out of luck!. The only books you can read online for free are older books out of the copyright period, or non-published books which the authors decided to post online for everyone to read!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

For older books, published before 1923, start with:

http://www!.gutenberg!.org
http://manybooks!.net
http://www!.munseys!.com
http://www!.webliterature!.net
http://www!.feedbooks!.com

Then do a search for "free e-books" and you will find many more links!.

Newer books are under copyright protection, so you will have a much harder time finding free e-book versions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The ones that I most often use are:

http://en!.wikisource!.org/wiki/Main_Page
http://www!.wikilivres!.info/wiki/Main_Pag!.!.!.

Most of the works there are PD, but most books that are actually good are PD!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The authors have to benefit from their work somehow!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
