George Orwell wrote the classic novel 1984 (which was written in 1948 during the end of World War 2 and during the rise of communist Russia)!. In 1984 Orwell is critical of very controlling governments and critical of Fascism and Communism!.

Ever since its publication the feature's of 1984's "villain" the corrupt and war-crazy government which lied to, manipulated, and spied on its people has been an example of all the worst features of government!. Both Bill Clinton and George Bush have been compared to 1984!.

1984 introduced the idea of "political spin" using the term "doublethink"!. Like "double talk," where a politician might say one thing to one group and another thing to another group, doublethink is the idea that one should be able to accept two contradictory statements as both true when they are in fact logically impossible to reconcile!.

Radiohead's 2+2=5 and Wold at the Door are criticisms of George Bush's American administration!. The features he criticizes the Bush administration's ability to lie to its constituents, and express beliefs in supposedly contradictory ideals!. The idea of "2+2=5" is an indirect reference to "doublethink!." The theme in "Wolf at the Door" is a "big bad wolf" who spies on you and pressures you follow his orders against your better judgment (like the governments in 1984 and the Bush administration)!.

One example of the Bush administration's spying is the "warrant-less wiretap" controversy and an example of following immoral or illegal orders are his censorship and manipulation of scientists who were trying to accurately report the causes and effects of global climate change!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

George Orwell is the author of a book called 1984!. The phrase 2 + 2 = 5 comes from 1984, which is about the world in the future where there is always war and there is a dictatorship who not only control everything people do, but also how they think!. The main character is secretly rebellious and says that the government has the power to make its people believe anything, even if it's as ridiculous as 2 + 2 = 5!.

A Wolf at the Door!.!.!.the lyrics remind me of 1984 because in that book, the government would send people called the Thought Police to beat up and "re-educate" the people who were against the government!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, George Orwell is!.!.!. some author!.
He wrote books!.
They are pretty good, and worth reading!.

They probably won't make you happy, but they will make you think!.

I will write a summary here, because I sincerely doubt that you will ever actually read the book for yourself :
In the book 1984, there is a man living in a dystopian future!. At the time the book was written, the year 1984 was about forty years in the future!. World War II had just ended, and things seemed pretty bleak!. In this imagined future, the world is constantly at war!. The main character tries to resist the system, but it is a very dangerous thing to try!. In the end, he is tortured and brainwashed until he believes that two plus two really does equal five (a hint, in case you don't do math, in addition to not reading, two and two make four)!. The saddest part about it is that he is basically content in believing it is so!. He has given up on his struggle for freedom!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
