Question: Is it irritating for people to read about an author's religion when the reader doesn't believe the same!?
For example, if God is mentioned in a novel several times, does this offend the reader or make them want to stop reading the book or do they keep reading thinking, "Hey!. It's a book, so what!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

It doesn't offend me!. We all have our own perspectives!. I chose to read the book so I must respect the author's perspective!. And it could end up being a great story so why fret over something so mundane as the difference in religious beliefs!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

As long as they are not preaching ,unless in the legitimate context of a character!. If it is apparent that they are using characters ,plot,or narrative to preach , I will drop it like like a hot rock!.also it is amatter of what ,and to what degree!. If they are promoting a moral or spiritual lesson, that is OK ,even commendable!. If they are promoting JC as the only Lord and Saviour, and everyone who doesn't believe is going to hell, then that is way over the line!.
Sometimes I have noticed that Fundies have cleverly disguised their propaganda as novels, self help, and the paranormal!.IN our local Publix ,there is a rack of what appear to be self help, pop psych, and ghost story books which are deceitfully disguised Fundy propaganda!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I find it offensive when the author treats whatever they are mentioning, like "God" as the truth, not just an opinion!. I like learning about it, but I find it offensive when other people can not be respectful!.

When it's obvious that the author is pushing as much of their religious beliefs in as possible (I,e!. Twilight), it's annoying!. When god is continuously mentioned, I find it obnoxious and am less likely to finish the story!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It IS a book!. Look at Harry Potter in The Deathly Hallows!. He went Jesus on Voldy, and Non-Christians still love the book!.

Edit: Who care what the author believes!? Each to their own, right!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It annoys me if they're trying to push their religion onto the reader!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Is it preaching or a part of the book or persanna in a book!? If it part of the storyline-then noWww@QuestionHome@Com
