Well, there are several different families in the book that Huck encounters!. There's his own somewhat disfunctional family, just him and his abusive father!. Then there's the relationship he develops with Jim, who is more like a real father to him than his own father is!.

There's the Sherbourne family (not sure if I've go the name right) who are all very interesting, though I think most of them end up getting shot don't they!? For a while Huck seems to have a sort of family life with them, and he has a kind of brother in ther boy Buck, doesn't he!?

And there's the Wilks family, who again become a sort of temporary family for Huck, this time with a sister, Mary Jane, who he admires very much, saying she has more "sand" than any girl he ever met!.

And then there's another kind family he ends up with, Aunt Sally and Uncle silas (can't remember their name, if it's ever mentioned) who again are a good substitute family for him!. Altogether, there are a great many familie sin the book!. And Huck somehow manages to fit in with all of them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
