Ann Rice based her whole Vampire series off of the life of Sarah Bernhardt!. TOO many parallels to discount!. That and she played the lead role of Sarah in productions of 'the life of Sarah Bernhardt' in both high school and college!. In queen of the damned she even 'admits' it when the investigator from the vatican asks if the 'vampire autobiography' was just an expounding of an actually historical character with a bit of fiction thrown in!.
