The Diary Of Anne Frank The Fountainhead To Kill a MockingbirdWww@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: My favorite novel is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen!. However, I enjoy all of her works and have read them over and over!. She could say more in one sentence than other authors say in paragraphs full of words!. Her prose was pithy and her stories full of humor and a thorough understanding of human nature!. I love Charles Dickens, too!. I realize some consider him boring, but I don't agree at all!. Charles Dickens did what few other authors have been able to accomplish, in my opinion: name many of his characters perfectly!. The names he chose always sounded just right!. He was also the master when it came to giving human qualities to inanimate objects!. When he speaks of the wind, for instance, in The Chimes, you can almost feel it trying to enter any crevice simply to get to you!. Amazing skill!. Some other authors I really enjoy include Agatha Christie (every mystery is good, every single one is different than the other), Louisa May Alcott, Lucy Maud Montgomery, Frances Hodgson Burnett, Eleanor H!. Porter and Kate Douglas Wiggin!. The last five are generally considered authors of children's classics, but each wrote some really good adult books!. You have to search in stores which carry rare and hard-to-find books, but it was worthwhile!. All three of the Bronte sisters were excellent!. Anne is the least known of the three, but her The Tenant of Wildfell Hall and Agnes Grey were both great books!. Jane Eyre (by Charlotte) is my favorite of the seven books written by one or other of the sisters!. George Eliot is, I believe, rather underrated!. Silas Marner, for instance, was an extraordinary book!. Elizabeth Gaskell is another writer whose works I love!. You get caught up into the world she paints and are loathe to put the books down!. I've only covered some of the 19th century and very early 20th century authors I love, but there are many others before that period and after it (and during the same period) which would make it onto my list of favorites!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice The Hobbit by J!.
