Though she had no purpose, as Why So Serious said, I suppose if you were looking that the way the plots rolled out, it would be to show that you can love more than one person!. That was certainly why Jacob Black was so important to the plot of New Moon!. I think that the theme would also be the same, but note that a theme consists of a topic and a message!. So "love" would be the topic and "it's possible to love more than one person" is the theme, because the message that Meyer is trying to send across is that!.!.!. you can love more than one person!. Like I said!. Hopefully the topic and message stuff can help you in later school projects, if you didn't know it before!.

Edit: Another topic could be "letting go!." The theme would be "Sometimes you have to let go of what you love!." Obviously, this is what Edward did!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

She didn't have one!. She said that herself-- she said she had no message or purpose in mine when she wrote the book, she just did!. She said all she was doing was telling a story, nothing more!. She also said there is no intentional theme in the series, so I don't know what to tell you there!. Perhaps "Suicide is oh so romantic" or "Life without a boyfriend isn't worth living" or "Selfishly endanger your own life, showing a complete disregard for the concerns of your friends and family, just to hear the voice of a guy who left you" something equally as ridiculous!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

The main themes are difficult choices, not getting what you want, the forbidden, secrets, family, love, choices, the future and how one choice could affect the rest of your life and fate is another one!. There is loads and loads!.
The author's purpose was to show another side to the perfect story and introduce another thing that would stop Edward and Bella being together!. Personally it is my least favourite of the books but i can understand why she wrote it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well Stephanie Meyer kinda probablby felt that she left people hanging, like Edward loved Bella so much, but due to the fact that Bella was a human and Edward was a vampire they couldn't really become a couple!. Edward loved Bella a lot but he always had the fear of killing her!. So Stephanie Meyer decided that to continue that in New Moon!. But when Edward leaves Bella becomes heart broken!. Even though he did it for her own good!. That's why Bella starts hanging out with Jacob because Bella has no one!. When Edward came she left everyone, she was once again separate from the other children!. And because of a series of misunderstandings Edward thinks that Bella is dead so he wants to die too!. Then they have to continue their love story in the other two books!.
