The only valid reason to stay away from Twilight would be if you do not want to become obsessed!. It may not be a piece of amazing literature, but the plot line is so damn catchy!

HARRY POTTER of course will always be an amazing choice for the modern teen!.

Chuck Palahniuk has an amazing set of novels not necesarily geared for teens, but the mature ones will handle it well and gain a lot!.

Classics like 1984, A Clockwork Orange, and Animal Farm spark a political interest in older teens!.

Younger teens searching for individuality might enjoy books like Stargirl and Loser by Jerry Spinelli!.

Oh, yeah!. Twilight sucks!.

Sarah Dessen is an incredible realistic fiction writer!. All normal teen stuff, but brilliant!. I love her!. I recommend all her books except for That Summer [her first]!. That one was!.!.!.not so good!.

Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder!. I loved that book!. It gets confusing, but at the end it all wraps up nicely and you'll have a different view of the world!. Highly recommended!.

I'm a teen as well, but I think it's time to delve into more!.!.!.!.distinguished fictions!. Try Jane Austen, maybe read a few Shakespeare plays!?

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is hilarious!.

Ender's Game series is good as well!.

The Uglies Trilogy

I haven't read these yet, but I hear that A Great and Terrible Beauty series by Libba Bray [it's a series] is good as well!.

Then, there's, obviously, Harry Potter!. =]
Stay far, far away from Twilight!.You don't want to turn into a screaming fangrrrlllll like everyone else!. -shivers-

Have fun!

*Edit:
Sophie's World can be a bore if you're not interested in philosophy, however!. also, the protagonist, Sophie, is really obnoxious!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
