Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Yes!.
It's very great!
At first I did not wanted to read it and I thought it was for girls only and then I got comfortable with It and I read Twilight and I loved It!. I'm already on the second book called New Moon!.
I love all the saga!
Meyer wrote four of them!.
I'm starting to think about reading the host!.
Really read Twilight!.
You will like it and I recommend it reading it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The books are badly written, terribly executed, and not worth the paper they're published on!.

Meyers writes on a level that one expects to see in internet fan-fiction and the book is so riddled with errors and word misuse it makes anyone with a brain cringe!.

Edward is hot, but without any discernible personality traits (beyond his controlling manipulation) and is also a moody and stalkeresque "boyfriend" who ends up controlling Bella and alienating her friends!. Frankly his behavior would result in a restraining order in the real world!.

Likewise Bella is a Mary Sue archetype with no being outside of her obsession with Edward and her only real trait is her utter condescension towards the town of Forks and its inhabitants!. Bella is good for lonely girls to project themselves onto, and that explains a lot of its popularity!.

The rest of the characters are flat type characters who never grow or expand (not that Bella or Ed do either)!.

The plot is majorly predictable, and Meyers uses words she obviously has no real comprehension of the meaning of, and is redundant more times than I can count!. The prose itself is terrible on a level I haven't seen before in published work!. I refuse to stoop and call it literature!.

If you like insipid romance novels with no literary value and an utter disregard for being even mediocre, you'll love Twilight!.

Edit:
To be perfectly snarky, reading the other answers on here, do you trust the people who can actually write a response or those who just blather on about how hot and romantic Edward Cullen is while not being able to remove their fingers from the punctuation keys!?

By the way, the book DID teach me a lesson: don't ever take for granted the ability of teenagers to blow something out of proportion!. If that's what great fantasy has reduced itself to, Frank Herbert and Robert Heinlein are crying somewhere, and Tolkien's about to join them!.

Edit:

Harry Potter was good because it was well-written and grew the characters with the books!. It provided things you could care about instead of something you could lust over!. JKR did her homework, if you research some of the names and terms she used!.

My recommendations for books are the ones Meyers stole her ideas from:

For obsessive lover and a weak female lead, go with Gaston Leroux's Phantom of the Opera

For vampires who are good at seduction, there's no one but Anne Rice!.

For lust-ridden teenage melodrama, Shakespeare and "Romeo and Juliet"!.

Just want romance or fantasy!? Stranger in a Strange Land is a beautiful story, and worth the read!. Jane Eyre, Watership Down, Dune, Tailchaser's Song, and The Once and Future King are amazing!.
It's easy to find good literature if you look!. Problem is, it's far easier to fall over the mediocre stuff that gets pushed at you daily!.

I admit that Twilight was amusing on a level of my Trashy Read of the Month, but just like the other ripped-dress novels that make up that category, it's just amusement on a base level!. Actually reading it to appreciate it makes me dislike it very much!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It all depends on your point of view!. In my opinion, I love it and hate it at the same time!. I love the "sexual tension" but there isn't any sex in Twilight at all!. lol!. And it's very addictive!. I read it last summer because people said it was good on Yahoo Answers!. And I finished it in a few hours!.

But Twilight has its flaws, the writing is a bit repetitive!. For example the book refers to Edwards god-like face over and over and over again!. And the protagonist Bella's character is too weak!. It seems like some parts, Meyers just picked up a thesaurus to help her simple writing, which didn't help by the way!.

basically: average girl meets boy!. boy is vampire!. vampires are dangerous!. they fall in love anyways!.

it's a nice story, but not a great piece of literature!.

edit: carrie c, i agree with your answer even though i'm a victim of Twilight!. you should recommend books that are good, instead of just complaining how terrible twilight is!. i want to know what you think about harry potter books!. hahaWww@QuestionHome@Com

No!. It's terrible!.

It's so popular because stupid teenage girls [I'm sad to say that I am one] are obsessed with Edward Cullen!.

The plot is cliche and the writing is spongy!. You will cry when you read the last book because it is so BAD!. Loopholes galore!. Mary sues are abundant!. And worst of all, the whole series teaches bad morals!. We know the author didn't write for morals!. It doesn't mean that the books don't teach lessons!.

And they teach bad ones!. Subteley so!. Unless you are a stupid ditzy teenage FANGRLLLL who LUUUURVESSS the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus, I suggest you not read the books!. I regret reading them myself!.

*Edit
I love you Carrie C!. You are a genius!. You said what I meant way better than I did!.

*Edit
It is sad, isn't it!? The fangrlzzzzzzzz who love it can't type about anything else other than how HAWTTT Edward is and how 'GOOOD' stphnie myre is as a riter!. Mhmm!.

Again, Carrie C said it perfectly [I am your biggest fan at the moment]!. You trust the people who are writing with actual proper grammar and punctuation, with CD's on how bad the books are, or the ones who are raving about a flat character who happens to be HAWTTTT!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Honestly, it isn't a good book at all!.

The reason why so many girls obsess over it is because it is their fantasy!. I mean, the story is about an "average" Mary Sue who hits it off with an "impossibly handsome" vampire who "sparkles in the sun"!. The story is drawn out!. But yes!. Most of my friends DID find the series to be very addicting--their guilty pleasures, if you will!. Basically, the Mary Sue is a self-insert for any girl reading the book!. Meyer herself said that she did not mean for her stories to mean anything--there is no message to be taken (except for stay as far away from vampires as possible)!.

Technically, the story is poorly written!. The characters are cardboard!. The plot is underdeveloped!. The writing style is so anti-sophisticated if you will---it reads like a 13-year-old's journal!. I even asked my friends to go through the first book and count up the number of words that they didn't know--the highest number I got was FIVE (in a 500+ page book)!. That should say something about sophistication!.

Twilight really reads like poorly written fanfiction!.

Now!.!.!.the characters!.
Bella Swan is just a pitiful, weak, Mary Sue!. She is completely dependent on another for everything!. She is completely anti-feministic!.
Edward Cullen!. He's WAY too controlling and manipulative!. In the real world, he WOULD get a restraining order, as Carrie mentioned above!. He is guilty of emotional blackmail and!.!.!.WTF!!! He *sparkles* in the sunlight!.
Jacob Black!. Okay!. He's half-decent in New Moon!. I'll give Meyer that!. At that point, he is your average pessimistic, sarcastic, car-loving teenage guy (before he becomes a werewolf)!. Once he becomes a werewolf, it's all downhill from there on!. In fact, he really suggests pedophilia in the last book---scary stuff!.

By the way, I'll let you judge on your own!. Who do you trust more!? The haters who actually write with decent grammer and give you logical reasons who Twilight sucks, or the obsessors who are "OMG!!!!! *Edward Cullen* is sooooo hawt!!! SMeyer's my hero!!!! i <3 u!.!.!."

I dare you TWILIGHTERS!.!.!.THUMB ME DOWN if you are brave enough!.!.!.

If you're a tweener with no literary frame of reference, you'll probably like it!.

If you're serious about quality narratives, and aren't sucked in by obnoxious fads, then you probably won't!.

The prose itself is crap!. I leafed through one of the books out of curiosity, and it's romantic drivel!. I've seen better writing in run-of-the-mill romance novels!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

at first, i didn't want to read it, because its so addictive and everyones talking about it! but i finally did, and it was amazing! trust me sista (or brotha!) after reading twilight you'll have a new standard for men! ;] it was amazing! stephanie myers is an amazing author!Www@QuestionHome@Com
