Question: Obsessive Twilight fangirls, I have a question for you!.!?
Can you defend the books you love oh so much!?

These are reasons why many people think the series sucks!. ( I got them from another website, and I feel I should share)!.

Oh, and I know you can like whatever books you like to, and I agree with that!. I just want to know why you think this book is so epic!.

- Bella and Edward = Mary-Sue and Gary-Stu respectively

- Being clumsy is not a character flaw!

- Ms!. Meyer's vampires are perfect!. I respect her attempt to do away with the classical image of vampires, however, she made them super fast, strong, beautiful, etc!.!.!.!. She also did away with their weaknesses!. And they shine, that speaks for itself!.

- If the first 200 pages of your book rely on the mystery of a character's identity, don't slap "First, Edward was a vampire" on the back cover!.

- The author constantly repeats certain things that she's already described in full detail!. (Bella's extremely noisy truck, Edwards 'perfectness', how bad she was at volleyball, etc!.)

- Ms!. Meyer's first-person POV sucks!. She just can't pull it off!. Why is that!? Because she doesn't find a way to explain anything but Bella!. We never get to know how Edward works because Bella never thinks it, of course, and Ms!. Meyer shows no other way of expressing it!. She should not have to write another book to explain something that should have been in the first book, so don't use Midnight Sun as an excuse!.

- Much too little actual conflict in the story!. But this probably stems from having flawless main character!.

- She threw away the best part! The actual falling in love! It's supposed to happen slowly!.!.!. there's supposed to be intimacy and sweetness and awkwardness!. But no!. It's right-off-the-bat in love!. They both know it instantly!. From then on it's just fighting to stop his species from keeping them apart!.

- Why do they love each other anyway!? She smells good and he’s hot… what!?

- It's just not healthy to teach young girls that true love involves the guy watching you while you sleep!. Not to mention the messes in New Moon!.

- Edward is HOT!. We get it!. Good for you!. You can talk about something else now!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm here to defend twilight fans, they are not as shallow as the responds say they are!.!.!. firstly, my English here might not be perfect as the others since it is not my first language!.!.!.

Twilight series are meant for young adult, which means teens around the age of 12 years and above!. I am sure for teens nowadays at the age of 12 they are mature enough to think what's fantasy and what is reality!. And for sure this book is 100 percent fantasy!.

As for the vampirism imagery, that I have to agree!. A creature without flaw is a little boring!. As for the clumsiness, is just an effect to show Bella's flaw!. Which is also to balance the perfection of the vampires!.!.!.

As I stated earlier, this book is meant for young adults, and also for teens that don’t really love to read!. So don’t expect Tolkien or Rand or much less Shakespeare!. Teens especially girls, starts to read because they can imagine themselves as Bella, and that interest them!. As for the repetition, is just for the effect as Ms Meyer said she as she was writing the book, she was thinking it as a movie, so maybe she wanted readers to see what she imagined in her head!.

As for love in this book, well, love happens differently to different people!. Maybe yours would be slow rising, intimate and sweet and mine might be a pang in the face at that first sight!. So I have no idea why Edward’s and Bella likeness towards each other bothers the commenters so much!.

Why do they love each other!? Well, as Ms!. Meyers put it, she has an old soul and he’s just old!. Bella sort of takes the role of her mother since her mother is kind of childish in her mind, and Edward has the olden charm, the politeness, the grace and the good etiquette of an elder male!. He is not just HOT!.

Personally, I like this book as a light reading material, as far as literary review this book is okay, but not great!. The way she portray her character, is a little too simple!. But maybe, that is because this book is targeted for teens!. So I hope this clears the name of the book a little!.

I tried reading it, but I couldn't do it!. Its awful!. I certainly hope the movie is betterWww@QuestionHome@Com

TWILIGHT IS EFFING CHEESY AND LAME!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think Im in love!.!.!.wow!.!.!.that was one of the greatest things i have ever had the pleasure of readingWww@QuestionHome@Com

lol

its funny how the norm is no longer to love the book, but to bash it!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sometimes I'm between the middle I love twiligt because of creativity and romance but there many flaws!. First of all Stephanie does have a suckish way of writing I was in some part of the books and Bella said something and I would go wait what happened!? o!.o! I love twiligth because they used to tease each other a lot and you were right if you took more time with the falling in love part Edward woulnd't had become too series in the other 3 sequels! i'm like I still like him but he;s not the same charming guy he was in twilight and became sort-of a wimp by giving Bella whatever she wanted in Breaking DawnWww@QuestionHome@Com

I know!. I would rant, but I think you said it all!.!.!.well said!.

Pay heed, Twilighters!. I should like to see their responses!.

@ John M~
A guy not obsessed with becoming an Edward Cullen!.!.!.I'll marry you!.!.!.lol!

Yeah, that was definitely the second best thing I read today after Hamlet's "To be or not to be" soliloquy!. After all, Shakespeare is classic, unlike a certain Ms!. Meyer!.!.!.

I don't even know how many times I've seen those responses!. I should start keeping count just for lulz!.

Oh, and by the way, there are avid, obsessive, Twilight-maniacs that are thumbing down our intelligible replies!. Exactly the kind of idiotic fan that Epiphany was describing!.!.!.

I think I'd like to get in on the marriage proposals here!

I actually did like the book the very first time I read it, but when I read it again I could not for the life of me fathom why!. I can only speculate that I must have been drunk out of my mind!.

(Fun drinking game, take a shot every time Edward being hot is hammered into the reader's head!. Warning: You may die of alcohol poisoning halfway through, but you'll be spared the rest of the book)!.

Edward being hot bothers me, actually!. He's pale!. The first time Bella sees him he has dark shadows under his eyes!. He has black eyes and later, topaz (the hell!? yellow!. yellow eyes!?) eyes, and hair cannot be bronze!. It isn't actually a colour unless you are a paint sample!.

None of this description sounds even the faintest bit attractive to me!.

I like my guys with a tan, thanks! And I'm big into personality!. Anyone who says he watches me sleep is getting a dose of mace-in-the-face and a restraining order thrown at him!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

OK!. To warn you - this might make me sound crazy!. So i just read all 4 books to this series (with a 3 month old, kinda hard to do!) I could not put the books down!. The first and last books were my favorite!. It took me to a place other than reality and i was stuck there!.

When I was reading the book I could hear them breathing, i could feel their touch, i could see the desire in thier eyes!. It was beyond anything I thought it would be!. It was more than a love story!. It made me feel alive!. I am still in shock! My mind is still in the story!. My senses are trying to wrap my head around the feelings i felt when i reading these books!. It is unlike anything i have ever felt before!.

I did not watch any trailers until i read the book, i didnt want any pre-exsisting thoughts in my head about any of the characters!. I finally watched a trailer and it does not do the book justice at all!. I am still going to watch the movie but nothing will make me feel like i did hwen reading it!.
Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well I definetly respect your opinion and no book is perfect for everyone!. I loved the book because it took me to a world of morals and forbidden love which is romantic!.!. and the characters seemed so realistic, I can sometimes imagine me in the book right next to bella and edward!. The book was just an escape and I'm very excited for the movie and hope it lives up to my expectations:]Www@QuestionHome@Com

I do like Twilight, just not as much as I used too!. I liked it when it wasn't so popular!. I'm not one of the stupid squealing fangirls who see an Edward poster and scream, "OMGGGG IT'S EDWARDDD HES SOOO HAWT!" or something like that!. The one thing that agravates me so much (I'm not even sure why) but when someone says "Edward is so hot!. I'm in love!.!.!.blah blah blah!.!." Get this through your thick idiotic skulls, Edward is a word with a description!. He is not real and yet fangirls claim to be "in love!." Sometimes it just really ticks me off and it's making me hate the book more and more!. Yes, I believe it could be written much better!. The story is a good one, but the way she goes along with it just sort of ruins it!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well to be honest I hated this book because of the big deal everyone was making!. I thought it was just going to be another vampire book trying to have some sort of romance in it and I just couldn't stand it!.

I decided to give it a chance and i read all the books a couple of months ago and i loved them!. it wasn't just because of edward being this hot guy but the story overall!. its really just another love story but obviously this one is quite different having vampires and werewolves!. if you take that aside you have just a story about two people falling in love!. sure it seems shallow having them fall in "love" at first sight but the passion they had for each other was great!. other books have this sort of thing where they fall in love just like that!. i mean look at romeo and juliet they fell in love at first sight yet everyone seems to love that!. (im not trying to compare stephanie meyer to shakespeare so dont take it the wrong way)!. i know this isnt real i mean come on vampires!? but stepahnie meyer used great detail when describing her characters and put a lot of thought into them!. i just really learned to like the characters as the story developed like alice and emmett!. in the other books that follow twilight you jsut learn so much about everyone else, the story behind everyone and in ways you can relate to some of them except the fact that they are vampires!. and then there's jacob, who becomes one of the main characters starting in new moon, who is just a sweetheart and really just tries to care for bella!. its really just your typical crush!. you just learn so much about each charater and feel like you know them!. yeah it sounds cheesy but that's the reason i love these books!.

i think the reason people dont like them or dont want to give them a chance is just because of the big deal everyone makes!. it gets really annoying even for me, to have to hear about it non-stop!. everyone really has their own taste so not everyone is going to like one thing and i can understand that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Im not sure why, But the books are just so good!. I think the reason like every girl is in love with the book is that we are just dreaming of being Bella Swan and having a perfect loving boy friend like Edwarf Cullen!Www@QuestionHome@Com

well i found it was well written!. i guess it just depends on a persons writing style preference!. i read almost a new book every night (scribd!.com) and I'vee found that twilight was one of the most memorable Ive read!. the style of writing enabled the reader to really connect with the characters, thus you get obsessed twilight fans lol!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Typical rabid fangurl responses:
1-- Who cares if it's well written!? Edward is HAWT and I want a boyfriend like that! OMG I WISH I WAS BELLA! EDWARD IS SO HAWT!
2-- I just love it for the story!. STFU, you are stupid and pathetic and just go get a life and DON'T DISS ON TWILIGHT!.
3-- It's just so romantic and I relate with it because I want a perfect boyfriend!.
And, my personal favorite:
4- It's just a book, get over it and don't take it so seriously!. You are overthinking it!. It's just fiction!.

I've yet to see a Twilight fan actually give intelligent answers (meaning actual literary reasons, not ones based on their hormones) as to why they like Twilight!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm more a neutral than a fan, but here's an explanation from one of my contacts: http://answers!.yahoo!.com/question/index;!.!.!.

I'm referring to Leria's answer!. I don't agree with 100% of it, but she is very smart and good at backing up her points!. (And Leria, if you don't like that I'm using your answer as an example, tell me and I'll delete this, okay!?)
