I read it about a year ago, and I remember thoroughly enjoying it throughout!. Dexter has this way of seducing you into thinking what he's doing is right, and for a good purpose, and he says the most interesting and thoughtful things a character could ever say!. If you've watched the show, this is a great way to get to know Dexter a little more!. I'm 17, by the way - didn't find it too violent, confusing, or anything!. I say, go for it!.
