Question: Do you prefer to read series' of books, or stand alone novels!? !?
I like both, sometimes reading a series gets a bit boring as the writing style doesn't change much!.
Although there is nothing like a good series, Harry Potter, Twilight, Tomorrow when the war began etc!.
What do you think!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Depends on the storylines really!. I hate it when they just chop what could be one book and make it into 4 or more!. I also hate it when I get so wrapped up in the story and the characters and there COULD be more, but there's not, that's it, it's over!. =(

so, both really!. I have some fave series and some fave stand alone novels!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

One reason you'll often read "series" isn't so much because of the "series" but because you enjoy the author's writing or subject and tend to read anything they write!. However, there are exceptions!.

For example I've read several "series" and "stand alone" novels by SciFi/Fantasy authors like C!.J!. Cherryh and Arthur C!. Clarke and generally enjoyed most!. I also read Piers Anthony years ago but got bored with his Xanth series of books so quit reading him!.

In Mysteries I've read Harry Kememlman Rabbi series, Sue Grafton Alphabet series and Ellis Peters Cadfael series!. However the last got very old after several books simply because it was very formulaic (Man and Woman secretly in love - man falsely accused of murder, Cadfael helps protect the accused and/or the woman until such time as he is able to solve the murder)!.

My favorite author though is Rex Stout but mainly his "Nero Wolfe" novels!. There is something about the interplay of Nero Wolfe and his assistant Archie Goodwin and the fact they're both basically smartasses that I really enjoy!. I've reread most of those books many times over the years!. On the other hand his books that aren't about Nero and Archie often though quite readable aren't quite as enjoyable to me!.

You could always get some book recommendations from your friends!. And if you really want to read a series but through out the middle you get kind of bored, you can just take a break and read a novel!. If you forget what happens in the series you took a break from, you can always ask a friend who read the series what happened to jog your memories, or you can go on any kind of website and look up the series and what happens!. I HOPE I HELPED! =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

I like stand alone books!. Tell me a good story from beginning to end!. I don't like serials because they leave me hanging!. If I start a serial, it will be one where it's all finished and I can just move on to the next book!. Harry Potter was the exception because it was started only a decade ago!. I read the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe series out of order but that series was good too and already finished!. I also read Stepen King's Gunslinger series but gave up after book 3!. Lost interest!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I like both as you say the writing style doesn't change!. I like the fiction mysteries best series or not!. James Patterson is one of my favorites!. but really I like to read most authors!. If the book doesn't get me in the first few chapters I set it aside and start another book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If the story is really good then I want it to continue in a series of books, but some story's are only enough to be one book!.
HP is my favorite series!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Both!.

Some books are so amazing, while others are perfect as series where each and every book from it is amazing together, too!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

sometimes one good book isnt enough, thats when you wish it were a series!. but books can also get boring when there in a series like you said!. so it depends I guss!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i like both it depends on the quality of the writer and how gripping the fiction is!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Short stories in the same book so if one doesn't take your fancy the next one might be better!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

stand-alone!. Series are prone to flatness!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If I read a good book, I tend to hunt down all the books written by that author!. XDWww@QuestionHome@Com
