You can write of anything which inspires you; the point, though, is that the concept must be your own!. You need to know what you want your plot to be; a prerequisite for becoming a published author is an active imagination!. You can not depend upon others to provide you with ideas!. A book can be of any length you desire; the objective is that is long enough to tell an intriguing story but short enough that it does not become boring and tedious to read!. You can divide it into any number of chapters at your discretion; generally, a chapter will cover a subject or a period of activity which is interconnected!. When the scene changes or the immediate action is completed, then you would begin a new chapter!. Before you can simply write a novel, you will need to spend some time in learning how to do so!. Read voraciously in order to become acquainted with style and to study how published authors compose their stories!. When you do write, you can choose any topic which appeals to you!. It depends what age group you are writing for!.

Go to the local library and look at what age group you want to write for!.

Then get the writers handbook and each publisher will tell you how many words they want for each book!.

From that you can work out how many words for each chapter and for the whole book!.

You have a good idea but you need to see who would take it on!.
Where does she get lost!?
Why are they mean!?
How old are they!?
What does she look like!?
Does she have friends!?

I've written a couple of novels and both have come from ideas I thought were interesting and then I dreamed out the whole thing in my mind throughout a period of days (weeks for the first one)!. Once I know for sure how it's going to turn out, I begin to write it - that way I can concentrate on how the words are put together and my writing skills!. Then after I complete either a large portion or the entire book, I edit it several times, then give it to my family and friends for them to critique!.

If you don't have too long of a storyline in your head, 10 chapters should be enough!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The nature of this question tells me that you have a very, very long way to go before you become a novelist!. I'm not trying to be harsh, but if you need help with questions like these, the chance of you being able to write a novel is zero, at least at this point in your life!.

how do you write a novel!?
get an idea!.
ideas come from everywhere!. magazines, tv shows, other books (don't steal them!), songs, all over the place!
but usually an idea just needs to hit you (SMACK) right in the face!.
once you get an idea, WRITE IT DOWN!.
plan out a beginning, a middle, and an end!. know the ending before you begin!
as you go along with the plotline, fill in details until you have it planned!.
then start making scenes so you can chain them together!.
don't be afraid to work and fix up ur plotline so it fits around ur story more! :)
