Publishing is a nasty business!. It's nearly impossible these days to get picked up by a major house, especially if you are an as yet unpublished writer and/or unagented!. Self-publishing is always an option but it costs money!. Everyone wants to be published and dozens of companies have sprung up to bilk you out of your money in exchange for saying "Oh, I'm published!."

find a literary agent otherwise no publisher will ever look at your stuff!.

you can find out about literary agents and contacting them over the internet - some prefer specific genres and audience types!.
