Question: Question about writing!?
I'm writing a novel from a 13 year old girl's point of view!. Do I have to put vocabulary words!? Will agents or publishers throw it away if there are no vocabulary words!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

What in the hell is a vocabulary word!?

I realise that I'm old and crusty and know nothing about a 13yr-old girl P!.O!.V!., but if by 'vocabulary words' you mean big and clever words, then the answer is NO! Hemingway and Steinbeck didn't need them and neither do you!.

More than anything, agents and publishers are looking for work that is well-written and has commercial appeal, so if you can do that then you've got a good chance!.

One thing- I try not to use the same word more than once in a sentance/paragraph!. For example, if I wrote, 'The boy in the golden yellow shirt walked toward the golden yellow car in the golden yellow sunlight,' my publisher would slap me in the head and demand that I change it- perhaps to 'The boy in the yellow shirt walked toward the car as it waited in the glittering sunlight!.'

Good luck with your writing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, don't think that a 13 year old girl is stupid not to use big words!. I mean I am 13 and I think that we can very much behave like adults!. Picture yourself as an almost-adult and not completely a child anymore!. 13 year olds like to be alone and like try things on their own!. 13 year olds use big words sometime, and It's normal!.

Good Luck :]Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not really!.!.
It depends on what sort of words you use!.
Besides, if the agents or publishers think that your novel is good, they won't throw it away!.
They'll simply ask you to add one if needed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think they will throw it away unless they don't like the story line!. But they might send it back telling you that it needs some vocabulary words!. Hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com
