Question: Can I copyright my work before it's finished!?
I'm writing 2 books right now and I really want to send them to a publisher and an editor, but I want to copyright them first!. Can I copyright something that isn't done yet!? How do I get it copyrighted quickly and inexpensively!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
When you started to write, your work was copyrighted!. It belongs to you!. You can put your name, the copyright symbol and the year at the end of the work!. You don't need to file special papers; there is no fee!. There ARE sites that will charge you to file your copyright but with the laws currently in place in the U!.S!., it's not necessary!. There are numerous sites that explain this in detail!.

I can answer this question by appealing to the source, The U!.S!. Copyright Office!. This is verbatim from the agency:

"You are free to register a work in part or whole!. If the work is still in progress and the completion has yet to be done - register the work again, at that time!."

Yes, you can!. As long as you can prove that the intelligence of your work comes from you, it is perfectly legal to copyright it!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
