Ummm!.!.!.you want nonfiction that's light and untethered to anything serious!? That's a tough order, friend!. For nonfiction, I'd really recommend anything by Jared Diamond!. He's a double-PhD in evolutionary biology and!.!.!.cultural anthropology(I think)!. He sets out to discover why people are the way they are, and does a damn good job of it!.

For light fiction, I'd recomment Terry Pratchett!. He's funny, tightly plotted, and clever!. If you're interested in:
Religion, read "Small Gods"
Sex relations, read "Monstrous Regiment"
Mysteries, read "Guards! Guards!"
Adventure, read "Pyramids"
Oh hell!.!.!.just pick up anything!. You might also like Douglas Adams, "The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

As a bit of a nomad I love good travel books!. My all-time favourite author in this genre is the American, Paul Theroux!.
The last travelogue of his that I read was called "Riding the Iron Rooster",
about a journey he had made around China!. It's not laugh-out-loud but posseses a wry, subtle humour!.

If you can't get this, anything by him is worth reading!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Go to used book stores and browse!. Comic Book Stores are great too!. Bone by Jeff Smith!
Calvin and Hobbes are great bathroom reading!
