First of all, I did read Twilight!.

Second, Twilight is not worth the paper it was printed on, and the series goes down from there!. The characters have no depth, particularly Bella, who is driven by love of Edward and nothing else!. Edward is just as bad!. He has no characters flaws!. At all!. That's not how to write a good book!.

The plot is cliche!. Just one giant cliche, the entire first book!. Not an original concept throughout, except the bit where vampires sparkle!. That's original, alright!. It's also dumb!.

The writing!. Oh, the writing!. If you can even call that drivel writing!. Stephanie Meyer shows no signs of understanding any literary devices at all!. She writes not to tell a story, or to create something beautiful, but to captivate young girls into buying her novel!.

The reason people like Twilight is because of the simplistic style I have outlined to you, it is very easy for a young girl to put herself in Bella's place, and any girl would love to have a vampire or werewolf of her own!.

In conclusion, Twilight is fine for those who don't mind the poor writing and transparent plot and characters, but if one expects any sort of quality from their reading material, Twilight is not the answer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Opinions, eh!? So the Twilighters here needn't say that I'm a person "with no life" because I bash Twilight!. This is my opinion, so deal with it!.

I read Twilight out of curiosity!. I actually thought it would be a good book!. I love reading about vampires, so when I first heard of it, I was excited to start reading it!.

I read it, and thought it to be an okay-ish book!. Bella and Edward didn't annoy me much in Twilight!. It was an easy read, but like funny sitcoms, it's forgettable!.

You wouldn't really count me as a hater before!. But when I read Breaking Dawn (and found it absolutely horrible), I reread Twilight again, and my eyes were opened!. That's when I became a hater!. I cannot believe I said it was an okay book!.

Twilight is cheesy, cliched, badly written, meaningless fluff, has lame cardboard characters, basic plot, no depth, full of purple prose and it looks like it's been written by an immature 12-year-old instead of a 34-year-old woman with a degree in English!.

I wonder how the hell it got into the literature world!. I wish I could knock some sense into Little, Brown for publishing such a crappy book!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I thought it was a beautiful book, for many reasons:
- The intensity of the themes; love, hate, beauty, it had everything, all explored in a fascinating and frank picture!.
- The spectacular characters; from innocent Bella to seemingly perfect, yet tramatised Edward to unique, quirky Alice!.
- The plot, which kept you reading and made you want to carry on!.
- The realism of the aspects: Charlie and Renee, Bella at school, homework!. ectera!.

My favorite in the series (do you mean the series or twilight particularly!?) was Breaking Dawn; it showed that true love can continue through marriage and childbirth and trauma!.

However, I have to say, there were a few flaws which I will admit to:
- It was a little odd that Jacob imprinted on Renesmee, but, at the same time, in the twilight world that could have happened, it was entirely plausible, so this isn't really a flaw!.
- It is a LOVE story (this is not the flaw) and a lot of people are saying that it is not very moral; and, this is true in a few ways; Bella getting married and having a baby may not be seen as responsible - but, she was married and in love!. It just may not be the best moral guidelines!.

Still, one of the best books ever written!. But, at the end of it, I still adored every bit of it, and is my favorite book; I am not going to say it is the best book ever written, because that depends purely on opinion!. The main reason I put the flaws was to show that I can appreciate good literature and can still see that it isn't perfect; nothing is perfect - but, I acctually disagree with a few of the flaws I've put down myself!. (How was it irresponsible!? She was MARRIED! But other people see this as irresponsible!. Why!? I don't know!.) What people disliked about Breaking Dawn was the fact that there was a baby born in it - and they felt it took Bella away from Edward - if this means that, then what about all the couples who have children and still love each other!? That was a point she was trying to prove!. Plus, people who hate it and ask stupid questions like 'OMG Don't you hate twilight!?' need to get a life!. Everyone is entitled to their own opionion - this, however, doesn't mean that it is right to go shoving it down everyone's throats on a question and answer site!.(And for all the people who say that the only people who like twilight have never read a book before in their life, this is not true!. I love Emily Bronte and Jane Autsen and a load of other stuff!. Just had to get that in!.)

Hope I helped!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with many opinions on here!. I enjoyed Twilight very very much!. It held my attention to the point where I did not want to put the book down!. I was completely absorbed in the story!. No, I am not a teenager, I am an adult and as a fifth grade teacher I read this level literature very often!. Is Stephenie Meyer the best writer ever!? No, certainly not, but she is an excellent storyteller!. I agree with Armand's opinion that it is easy to put yourself in Bella's shoes, she might call that simplistic but I think it's a great story!. It takes a lot to have readers from teenagers up to adults feel as if they are a part of the story; it is no easy task!.
Sophiii said many things that I agree with, mainly, that many people like to argue that the people on here who praise Twilight are all young teens who haven't read any other books to compare it to!. I, however, read many many books from a wide variety of genres!. I appreciate books from Siddhartha and the Red Tent to Twilight, so I am no inexperienced reader!.
I do not argue that SM is an excellent writer; sure she's made mistakes, this is her first series of books to be published, she will grow in time!. I do disagree, however, with the people who argue that she writes these books for a profit only!. What writer does not write for the money!? It is an author's job to sell books after all!. However, she also wrote because she wanted to tell a story, much like any author who writes!.
Why do people insist that Bella was irresponsible in marrying Eward before having sex!? Isn't that the point!? Don't you want your daughter to get married before she has sex!? How is the book sending the wrong message!? Because she was married young!? I too was married young, like many other women I know and we've somehow managed to live fulfilling lives!. Does that make me anti-feminist!?
I find it hilarious that some people argue she describes too much and others argue not enough!. Or that they argue that she made the characters too unrealistic or that she broke rules when writing!. Her characters do have flaws, so Bella thinks she is plain and doesn't think she is worthy enough to be with Edward, what teen girl hasn't felt that way before!? Does that mean that girls everywhere else are super secure with themselves!? I know I wasn't always secure in high school!. Breaking Dawn was not my favorite ending to a series and I do agree that it was rather predictable, but she ended it the way she wanted to, doesn't that prove she isn't just writing for an audience!?
Many people choose to put down the teens who are reading Twilight and are now encouraged to read other books, but I look at it as a great thing that teens are excited about reading!. Maya Angelou said it best when she said, Any book that encourages a child to form a bit of reading!.!.!. is good for him!." Why are people upset that an author like Stephenie Meyer accomplished something that teachers all over try every day to do!?
Willow, salmon is also not specifically a color, but it is used as one, same as watermelon, sage, ect!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sooo Love Twilight!

It doesn't really have unique characters, duh, vampires!?

But it's story instead of being tired and boring is renewed
by Meyer's writing, her writing feels like reading a diary,
like ramblings that goes on and on, instead of the very
structured stories we're used to!.

It feels free and fresh!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I didn't like it all!. The book was full of plot holes, grammatical errors and very little plot development!. There was so much interesting stuff that could have happened, but Bella wasted so much time obsessively commenting on Edward's outward beauty that those opportunities were missed completely!.

also, their relationship was completely unrealistic and unhealthy to me!. They fell in love much too quickly and when they did it was 200+ pages of "I love yooouuuu" "But I'm dangerous Bella!. I love you, stay away from me, see you next class," (*rolls eyes*)

There was too much tell and not enough show!. We are told constantly that the Cullens are beautiful and that Edward and Bella love each other!. But WHY!? What exactly does Bella bring to the relationship other than smelling good (because we know form spending the entire book inside of her head that she isn't special)!? What about the Cullens' features makes them beautiful!. The only thing we know about Edward is literally that he has bronze hair and that he's beautiful!. What kind of nose does he have!? What kind of lips!? Its almost impossible for me to make a mental picture without me having to make up my own version completely!. Its the job of the author to provide enough detail to assist me!.

In fact, the best description we get out of ALL the Cullens is of EMMETT for pete's sake!. Meyer spends far too much time using purple prose and detailing unimportant things like Bella showering, instead of focusing on the things that could truly make the story blossom into something really good!. She also uses adjectives in the wrong way!. Topaz is not a color!. The stone itself isn't even golden!.

Bella Swan, in my opinion, was very uppity and antisocial!. She spent more than half of the first chapter freaking out over being accepted, and then when the students at Forks High fall over themselves to try and get to know her, she pretty much shuns them and writes them off as "golden retrievers"!. She is also very shallow!. The first thing she notices about Eric is that he has skin problems and nerdy!. She doesn't want to be bothered with him as a result!. Tell me this: If Edward were fugly, do you think Bella would have still been interested in him!. She talks way too much about the physical and not nearly enough about the personality!. As a result, what little bit of Edward's personality I got made me hate him!. To me, he came off as rude, pushy, selfish and as someone who suffered from severe mood swings!. It probably would have been better for the story if it were writtn in the third person omniscient!. Bella's tunnel vision made it impossible for me to get into the book!. Meyer seems better at that (and I can say this having read her short story in Prom Nights From Hell and actually enjoying it!.)

Overall, Twilight was, in my opinion, a very sloppy book!. It could have been so much better!. Its clear that the Editor at Little Brown books didn't try very hard!.

PS!. If I see the words "chagrin" or "dazzling" again, I'll pull my hair out!.

I am 23 and I love the book!. The book has several twists to it which keeps it very entertaining!. I like that the book is very unrealistic!. I need an escape from reality every now and then and enjoy reading these kinds of books!. When I read these books I really get into them!. Bella and Edward just kill me!. I guess I get jealous over how real their love is and how they would do anything to protect each other!. I realize they are fictional characters, but it still makes me jealous, lol!.
