Question: When should I start writing a book!?
I really enjoy writing and I would like to write a fiction novel!. However, I'm only a senior in high school >< When is a good time to start writing!? I've had an idea for a book and I want to get it down but I want to make sure I can write well enough first!. Should I wait until college!?
also, I'm torn between going into a computer science field or an English major!. I do love to write, but if I major in English how can I get any money to support myself!?
One more thing, any tips on what I should be doing!? I had an idea of writing a chapter of the book and submitting it to my school newspaper, or is that a bad idea!? I'm also trying to do a lot of reading, if anyone has suggestions on books similar to "1984", "Eragon", and "The Lovely Bones" (Just some ones I liked and am trying to build my book similar to them) I'd really appreciate it ^^
Thanks in advance to every answer =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

I really think you should begin the first draft of the story now!. If you wait until college, you might forget minor yet important details of your novel!. also, it's not such a bad idea to write a chapter of your book and submit it to the school newspaper!. This is your first step to getting known and though it is a small step, it still counts!.

I am already in college!. A year ago I had the same situation as you!. I so badly want to become a writer and a filmmaker that it kills me!. It's the only thing I can think of doing even without getting paid and until the day I die!. But then, if I take film making, I wouldn't have money to support myself, so I took the practical course, an engineering course!. You must understand that I never forgot my dream of becoming a writer and a film maker one day, for only the thought of me sitting in that directors chair, giving instructions to actors someday fuels my every existence!.

My parents told me to forget film making, but I vowed to myself never to do so!. I took that engineering course making a pact to myself to graduate with honors so that I can get a high paying job and eventually pay my way through film making school!. For me, waiting takes more courage than facing my destiny directly!.

Whether you choose to pursue your dreams now or do it later when you are more ready, always remember: Never forget who you really are, for who you are is who you're destined to become!.

Good luck and I wish all the best for you!Www@QuestionHome@Com
