The best suggestions I can give you that are mainly action, lighter on the fantasy/supernatural, are the Pendragon and Artemis Fowl series!. You are forewarned: these are action combined with fantasy!. If you can't stand something that doesn't actually exist, like flumes that shoot you through time and space, you won't want to read these books!. also, many of these suggestions are books that my brother, who is the same age, enjoys!. He's into Alex Rider as well!.

So, the Pendragon series, by D!.J!. McHale!. Action, action, and more action!. Bobby Pendragon is a 14 year old boy thrown into the middle of an interterritorial war!. I'm not going to try to do the books justice here, but I've provided a link at the bottom to the well-written description of the series on its official site!.

Just so you know, the first book starts out with the lead character, Bobby Pendragon, telling his friend that he kissed a girl who he's been in love with for years!. Please don't put the book down after reading this, because that plot gets thrown off to the side for the most part!. And to keep you busy until the next Alex Rider, there are currently 9 books!. The shortest is around 350 pages; the longest, about 550!. The 10th and final book in the main Pendragon series will come out next May, but there is a prequel series that will come out, starting next year!.

Another series: Artemis Fowl, by Eoin Colfer!. Plenty of action and fantasy!. Artemis Fowl, a 12 year old Irish genius, is determined to capture a fairy, and use the ransom money to restore his family's wealthy status!. Now, these aren't fairies like Tinker Bell!. This is a technologically advanced species that wouldn't have a problem with shooting you with a nuclear weapon!. However, humans don't know about them for the most part, and the fairies are determined to keep it that way!. Action and humor, and trust me, these books aren't cheesy in any way, especially where the fairies are concerned!. The books themselves aren't terribly long, but there are currently 6 in the series, which makes up for their relative shortness!. If you like these, you'll probably like Eoin Colfer's other books!. Links below for both Artemis Fowl's site and Colfer's site!.

Other series that I personally have not read, but my brother reads and enjoys: Chronicles of Narnia and The Inheritance Cycle (aka Eragon)!. Links below!.

If you haven't read these yet, you might also consider giving them a try: Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings!. Links below, in case you don't know much about them!.

I hope you give some of these books a chance and enjoy them!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have a suggestion for you but !. !. !. it's a little advanced, a bit mature, and so intense in places that you might just "download into your Fruit-of-the-Looms" if you're not careful!. The book is a fantasy/thriller called: Blood Prophecy by S!. & J!. Weatherton

If you feel you're up to taking a peek, you can read a synopsis at: http://www!.bloodprophecy!.com/aboutbook!.h!.!.!.

Another good action-packed book is Ben Rehder's "Gun Shy"
