Question: Did the author of "Twilight" steal the story line from Anne Rice's "Vampire Chonricles!?"!?
My friends and i have been talking about the ever do recently popular twilight ( kind of funny that the books has been out for a while yet its only now become popular due to the movie) , However my friend steph read Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles" and then heard about the storyline of twilight!. Vampre Chronicles has been out longer than twilight and we have heard stories that stephanie Meyer stole the stories and just changed 20% of it ( which is legal)!.!.!. does anyone know the full story!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

i personally think twilight is lame, no offense if you liked it, and i'd like to say that she did but she didn't!. anne's books, which i love and am biased towards, are far more developed and have much better characters, storylines, ideas, etc!. twilight shares the common thread of vampires and that kind of gothic romance thing!.
if twilight ripped anyone off it was buffy except without the strong storyline and great humor!. if anything meyers borrowed heavily from a lot of past writers and from what i hear her main anne rice influence was the wordiness which rice pulls off but meyers does not!.
also i love the HBO series True Blood which is based on the southern vampire mystery novels which shares a lot with twilight!. but you can tell the southern vampire mysteries ripped rices books more closely than twilight did!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
well im reading a series and its called a southern vampire novel, the first one is dead until dark, and when i read it, it seemed a lot like the twilight series, but it was published quite a few years before stephenie meyers books came out!. it talks about how the main character can read minds, and how she falls in love with a vampire and how his mind is silent to her, and it even talks about how she lives in a big house thats secluded from the rest of the small town and its in the woods and down a seperate driveway!.
there are a lot of differences, but a lot of the same things too!.
who knows, she might say she just dreamed them up, but she might have just thought of a genre and read some books on that genre and picked ideas out of them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
I doubt she stole the stories!. It's difficult not to share many striking similarities when your plot and characters are so trite and hackneyed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
