Question: Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allen Poe!?
What is the significance of the thousand friends that the Prince summons in "Masque of the Red Death"!?
I mean, like, why 1000, not 100 or 50, etc!.!. Is there a significance to why there were 1000!? Or was it just a random number!?

I'm not asking this cuz it's homework or anything, I just read the story for the first time right now; my brother was talking about it and we got to wondering lol!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

He just used that number to signify how many people were killed by the plague!. 1000 always seems so big a number!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would guess that it has something to do with the number of people the "red death" (was it the plague!? I can't remember) killed when it struck!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
