Rain
David was a very old man!. He hated living on a mountain where the children in the valley below tormented him, and there was never enough food!. The only reason he stayed was because of the house his family had lived in for years, the house his son would take when he died!. David was walking in his backyard, one of the few places he could go without seeing the terrible children, when he saw a starving man!. He took the man, whose name was Paul into his house and gave him some of the little food he had!.
When Paul had more energy, he said that he was a warlock, and could grant David one wish!. The old man thought for a minute, and then said,” I wish to make water fall from the sky whenever I choose!.” Paul, sensing that David meant to hurt his village, gave him a warning!.” Do not use your power to harm others, or you will be punished!.” David was too busy thinking about his revenge to listen to Paul!.
The next day, Paul had continued on his journey, and David was eager to use his gift!. He turned to the sky and said “Let water fall!”
Immediately water began to fall in drops out of nowhere!. He commanded the sky to shower water over the ground until the valley beneath his house filled!.
As the valley filled, people came out and stared in wonder at the drops!. Then, they realized what was happening, and they began to scream!. They started packing their bags, scrambling up the mountain opposite David’s!.
Upon hearing the noise, Paul knew what had happened!. He went straight to David’s house!. “I knew this would happen!. I should never have given you that wish!. Now, you have made your bed, and you are the one who has to lay in it!.” And with those final words, he turned David into a drop of water lying on the ground until it got sucked into the water cycle!.
The villagers, who were all huddled on the other hill, did not know why water had fallen from the sky, or why it temporarily stopped!. All they knew is that this water was a very good thing, for it brought with it beautiful new plants, which they called fruit!. They discovered it was edible, and they never ran out of food again!. It rained often now, and though the villagers were always afraid of another flood, they were glad for what they called rain!.
