Of course! In a bookshop confronted by hundreds of books on the shelves and with no clear idea of an author or title I want, I will naturally be attracted by a cover that captures my interest!.

That's not to say I buy books based solely on their covers, without reading a precis or an extract!. Surely only fools do that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i do, i figure if they don't take time enough to make a good cover, why would they take time to make a good book!? my best friend thinks you shouldn't just judge it by the cover, she just opens it up in the middle and reads a page or 2 to see if she likes the style etc!. but my system has not failed once in my entire life!.

Well, you can sometimes tell what a book is about from the cover; anything pink, fashion-oriented, or with hearts on it tends to put me off, but I usually read the description anyway!. Then if that sounds good, I'll read a few paragraphs to get a sense of the quality of the writing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Actually I do!. Visual display is the first thing that everyone sees and that's what initially attracts me!. Now if I have read books by the same author or in the same series or I know about it, then I disregard the cover!. I have chosen some of my favorite books just by ther cover!. But sometimes the cover can be awesome and the book really stupid!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I used to work at Borders and an interesting cover will def!. catch peoples interest!. An interesting title or being placed on the 2 for 3 table helps a lot also

I judge books by their reviews or award medals, booker prize and such (which yes are generally on the cover haha)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Unfortunately, I often do!. That's only for modern books though, I have higher expectations for classics, because I know they are good!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes i do if they involve animals then i may read the back or sleeves!. but if they are not about animals i usually judge by its name Www@QuestionHome@Com
