Question: Harry Potter and the Philosophers/Sorcerers Stone!?
I know why the name is different but was wondering if in the movie version of the Sorcerers Stone they said Sorcerers instead of Philosophers!? I have only ever seen the Philosophers version and they say it in there so was wondering if they did different takes or just deleted it out!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm such a geek that I can tell you that they dubbed the audio differently in the very few scenes that they actually name the stone!.
For Example: In the library when Hermione is talking about N!. Flamell with that huge book, the shot when she says Philosopher's or Sorcerer's stone you actually see Hermione from the back!. It eliminates the need to reshoot the scene, all they needed was the actor to say the line!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have read and watched the Russian version of this book, the name is quite different ;) But the plot is not changing, so why should we care!?

they said Philosophers is used in America, Sorcerers in UK ( or Philosophers in UK and Sorcerers in America, lost it) because of the difference in language!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am a huge Harry Potter fan and have only seen/read Sorcerers Stone!. I've never heard of it being called Philosophers Stone!. I have the movie memorized and they only call it the Sorcerers Stone, trust me!.
Maybe it's a difference between the country of publication for the book and/or the movie!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well!.!.!.apparently many countries such as America - *cough cough* are religious nuts!. And many pertitioned to get the named changed - because magic is "suposed to be bad" and the bible doesnt teach that!. They think "witchcraft and "wizardry" is all revolved around Hell!.

Stupid isnt it!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, they did film the scenes differently when referring to the Sorcerer's / Philosopher's Stone!. It's not much of a change - just a quick word change - but it's there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've only seen Philosophers too!. I think that they r the same!. Maybe they just are called different in different countries!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com
