Question: Movie better than the book!?
I was just contemplating whether to read 2001: A Space Odyssey or watch it!. I have both the movie and the book, but I haven't read or watched either!. Normally I would go with the book, but this is an exception as they were both produced with Clarke's input!.

also I was wondering can anyone think of a movie that is better than the book its based off of!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I liked the movie ('2001!.!.!.') more, because Kubrick handled it so very well!.
The book is also good, but the visualization of it is great!.

ADD: I find, however, that books are usually better than movies based on them!. I consider 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' by Kesey, for example, to be very much better than a movie that also was good!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Usually the book is better!. It all depends greatly on budget, what time period would you want the movie to be based on, how long is the book, and how complex the book is!. The book would contain way too much information for a movie to be made!.
Harry Potter movies are different from the books because the books are so long!. Movie directors would have to compress a 600 page book into a 2 hour movie!. During the filming of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the producers, writers and the Director wanted to cut the character of Kreacher the house-elf out of the movie!. Only at Rowling's request, Kreacher was kept in because he would have a major role in the last and final book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
