Question: Who do you think is a good example of a strong female character!?
I was pondering over this last night and i came up with a tie between edna pontellier and elizabeth bennet!. Please no one even think to suggest bella swan because that is just absurd and unless you have good evidence of strong qualities for her just dont name her a strong female character!. you dont have to agree with the two women i chose im just wondering who you would consider a strong female character and whyWww@QuestionHome@Com

I would say Katniss, from the Hunger Games!.

She steps in for her little sister in a competition where she is almost guaranteed to die, and makes it all the way!. In between, she semiburies her best friend in the competition, covering her with flowers and everything!. She falls in love with a fellow competitor too!.

Anyway, Katniss survives a death competition and also shows her weaknesses as well!. Strong female character, either way!.

I say Jane Erye, which is pretty much self-explainatory!. She has been through a ton of stuff in her life but still is headstrong and sometimes defiant, although you just kinda have to love her!
Between your two, I'd say Elizabeth Bennet, definately!
And HA, Bella Swan is NOT a strong female character in the slightest!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I totally agree with Elizabeth Bennet!

I woud also say that Herminie Granger from the Harry Potter Series is a good one!. She's very smart, quick witted, brave, and loves her friends and family!. She's loyal!. I think those are good qualities!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think Bella Swan would be a good example either!.

I think Alice Cullen would be a good example thouugh!. She is so sweet and perky!. She is willing, and caring!. She will do anything to protect her family, and she's an all around good person!.

If you have ever read the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer!. I think you would agree with me that Holly Short is quite a strong female character (even though she is a fairy and it is a fiction novel)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Minerva McGonagall - Kept the order!.
and
Jane Eyre - She developed strength through her harsh upbringing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Aw HELL no! Bella Cullen all the way! Do you not realize that she saved a lot of people in Breaking Dawn!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with the whole Bella Swan thing, by the way :) Way to caught up in love--how many of us would consider giving up our families and humanity all for the sake of a boy a strength!?!?
Anyway, I don't think there's actually a whole lot of strong female characters in books nowadays!. They tend to be romantics that are easily swept off their feet by a boy!. Though it makes for an entertaining read, I wouldn't say they are strong females!.
The one that truly stands out to me, and I'm probably going to be laughed at for it, is Lucy from the Chronicles of Narnia!. She's just in all ways a strong character, knowing what is truly good!. She makes the kids stay to save Narnia because she knows that she's the reason the White Witch has taken Tumnus (just one example--she shows strength in all the books she's in)!.

I couldn't agree or disagree with you about Elizabeth Bennet and Edna Pontellier--never read the books!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
