Okay first of all some of the answers others have given you are incorrect!. i know this for a fact because today was my test about these things!.

Your simile is correct!. Your personification is correct!. now a metaphor is a comparison WITHOUT like or as!.

Your metaphor sentence could be the following:

The basketball is a hopping bunny when traveling down the court in the player's hand!.

Www@QuestionHome@Com

both of those are good!.

A metaphor is a comparison that doesn't use "like" or "as"!.

So you could say: the basketball was a blazing sun, swishing through the hoop and setting the crowd on fire!.

ADD: "the basketball set sail for the hoop" is actually personification, not a metaphor!. It's not a metaphor because you are not making a comparison between the basketball and something else!. You are instead giving the basketball the ability to set sail, aka the ability to do something human!. It's personification!.

If you said "The basketball was a ship setting sail for it's target" then that would be a metaphor!.

"The basketball flew down the court" is also not a metaphor, and neither is "basketball is the greatest" because neither of those are making a comparison!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well done on your answers!

Personification is giving human traits to non human things!. Making your basketball "jump for joy" is a perfect example because a basketball can't feel joy like a human!.

A simile is a technique that uses words such as "like" or "as" to compare two ideas!. Similes are similar but not the same, "basketball!.!.!.like!.!.!.hopping bunny"!. Great!

Metaphors are forms of comparison as well, but seek to make a subject equal to a second object in some way!. For example, "The basketball bounced down the court!. That hopping bunny was unstoppable!." See how the basketball is not just like a hopping bunny now; it is the hopping bunny!.

Hope I haven't confused you more :)

All the best!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personification: The basketball jumped out of my hands and into the basket!!

Metaphor: One of the opponents was a beast at basketball!.

Simile: The ball was all over the place like mosquitoes at a picnic!.

*Remember a metaphor is the same thing as a simile expect without the use of like or as, and the two items being compared are usually the complete opposite*Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your personification and simile are both good!. !. !.

A metaphor is a comparison (like a simile) that doesn't use "like or as!."

So, something like "The basketball was a speeding bullet, shooting toward the hoop!. !. !. " or something like that!. !. !. Www@QuestionHome@Com

im good at those

your personification is right (giving non human things human emotions and actions) and so is your simile (saying something is LIKE an other thing)
a metaphor is when you say something IS something else (The basketball IS a bunny hopping down the court!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Simiie: comparison using 'like' or 'as'
Metaphor: comparison not using 'like' or 'as'
Personification: giving human qualities to an inanimate object!.

Your simile and personification are good!. A metaphor would be 'I looked at the ball and saw opportunity instead!.'Www@QuestionHome@Com
