Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It's interesting, but a little difficult to read, depending on how old you are!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I read Jonathan Swift's world famous "Gulliver's Travels" several times, and I find it very interesting for the fictional exploration of lost lands that 18th century writers would describe!. Along with my 7th grade class, I read everything in the book from the beginning to the end, from Lilliput to the land of horses!. "Gulliver's Travels" was originally intended to be a savage satire on the human race, which grown-ups would find it disturbing, that some critics view Swift as a misanthrope (hater of man)!. The king and queen, for example, of Lilliput were a parody of the English monarchy, while neighboring Blefuscu was modeled after France!. also, the horses called Houyhnhnms have the intelligence of man while manlike people called Yahoos were savage animals!. A publisher edited the first two chapters to make it a children's fairy tale, focusing only on the little people of Lilliput and the giants of Brobbdinagg (correct spelling!?)!. Several film versions of the story were made, include a 1996 TV movie starring Ted Danson!. For the depiction of weird creatures and unexplored lands, I see "Gulliver's Travels" not just a satire or a fairy tale, but also an original science fiction novel!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Yep, my favorite part was when mr!. phengan tossed old man jingle bottom's salad!.Www@QuestionHome@Com |
