no not really crooks follows the theme of being an outsider like curleys wife ,candy,candys dog and lennie its one of the major themes in the book steinbeck didnt add him to be racist thats how america was during the great depression when the book was set it shows you the social and economicl content of that time so people can realate more to the book

Crooks shows just how deep racism ran at that time!. He's a character of intelligence but he's treated like half a man (hence the injury)!. Even a retard like Lenny is afforded more rights than Crooks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
