I write a lot of short stories my self (including horror), and often the characters' names don't come to me until I'm exploring their place in the story!. If you just let the story flow from your source, the names will pop into your mind like magic!. Try it, it works! It would be hard to give you a name, though, without knowing the context of the story!.

Doing character studies, i!.e!., getting down all their personality traits, quirks and flaws, etc!., is the best way to find out who your characters are, and then name them according to what you learn/deduce from those factors!.

Sometimes though, a name is just a name!. It's the character traits that "root your story in reality!."Www@QuestionHome@Com
