What is NaNoWriMo exactly?

Question: What is NaNoWriMo exactly!?

is it just basically you write whatever and it doesn't matter if you are really bad but if you finish 50,000 words, you can then enter it to be looked at and judged!?!?
I looked at the website and I mean, I've started writing my own story (i got it that you can't start writing until nov!. 1st but i won't be writing that story) and I'm totally interested in writing, so is that all you really need!?!? an interest in writing!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You don't even enter it, just your word total!. The challenge is to push out the story and to push past 'writer's block' and see where it goes!. Some of it will be crap, but that's okay!. They say "November is Writing month, December is Editing month"!.

So all you need is the motivation to try to do this and go for it!
