What makes it totally scary and unnerving is the character Annie Wilkes - who slips in and out of sanity and you never know what she is going to do next!. She is probably the scariest character I ever read!. As an author myself, whenever I see an electric knife, I hide my fingers!. The language and style of the character Paul is that of an author!. It had to be very believable for the story to work!. He talks like an author!. He acts like one!. And with Annie, he used these silly phrases like dirty bird and doody and things to show Annie's repressed childhood (she never swears) which makes her all the more nuts!. It is one terrifying book!. "Misery" is about the dark side of stardom and fandom!. Long before he's discovered by a whacked-out fan, the author has been a prisoner of his literary creation, Misery Chastain!. And his literal imprisonment comes about because of the creative imprisonment he's already experienced!.

Moreover, all these things happen in a claustrophobic setting, anf the author feels helpless to escape his creation or the deranged fan!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

OMG The supspence and the crazy-evil woman!. Stephen King is one of a kind!. Anything can happen, and his "constant readers" know that!. No one is safe! Not even the reader!.

Yikes!! Love this man's crazy mind!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
