In the small village in Algeria where the Berber people lived, a woman went to get water from the nearby waterhole 12 miles away!. Once she reached the waterhole, all the water was cleared up, because this was the closest place to get water for 30 miles, the women grew angry with the goddess Oya for not keeping water flowing so her family could drink!. Oya whom did not feel guilty, also grew angry with the women for blaming her as the enemy!. All of a sudden a strong wind, blowing from the north crashed into the women!. Her water basket went flying through the air, filling with sand!. The women started screaming at Oya for punishing her for Oya’s wrong doings!. Oya then blew another strong wind from the south creating a huge hole where the sand once was and blew the women into it!. The women then blaming Oya for her families death and soon to be hers!. Oya then thrashed a wild wind coming from the east then the west!. Creating a deep hole!. The women then pleaded for forgiveness!. But Oya wasn’t one to forgive!. Oya then created an enormous earthquake, splitting the ground apart!. There was now a long line through Algeria, the women fell down the hole, and died!. Once Oya was certain she was dead, Oya commanded a rainstorm!. The hole filled with rain, washing the women away with it!. The long line filled with water, is now called the Nile River!.
