that confuses me too!
i think the first couple of chapters are from mr lockwood!.
then ellen dean starts telling the story!.
whenever they call the narrator "nelly" i know whose talking!.
its very confusing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Mr Lockwood narrates the first few chapters!. Those ones are in the present tense!. After that, Ellen Dean picks up the narration and starts to tell Mr!. Lockwood the story of Catherine and Heathcliff; those chapters are in the past!. At the end of the book, when Ellen is done telling the story, the narration is picked up again by Mr!. Lockwood!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ellen Dean starts off the narration, but then she hands it down to Mr!. Lockwood after she tells him the entire story but it's still told from Ellen Dean's point of view Mr!. Lockwood is just narrating it!. So there's like two narrators a man and a women!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

basically its ellen dean but she told mr lockwood the story and he finished it off at the end

and one is really confusing where mr lockwood is telling the story ellen dean told him and ellen dean was listening to a story another lady told her!. it was extremely confusingWww@QuestionHome@Com
