Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Isabella was the name that she would have called her daughter if she had one!.

She named Edward because she wanted a romantic, old fashioned name that had fallen out of popularity!. She decided on the name Edward because of Charlotte Bronte's Mr Rochester and Jane Austen's Mr Ferras!.

All the other characters names were found by looking in old census records, though Rosalie was originally Carol and Jasper was originally Ronald!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Since Bella was her protagonist, she chose "Isabella" because it's the girl name she would have wanted her daughter to have!. She never gave birth to a daughter; she has three boys!.

She came up with Edward because in the classics, there are a lot of leading men that are named Edward!. Jane Eyre's Edward Rochester is a perfect example!.

She named Jacob, Paul and Seth after her brothers!.

For the others, I guess she just picked some names that fit the character!.

Yeah, as said before, she was going to call a daughter Isabella!.
Edward was an old name, like the rest of the Cullens, but especially from Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte's novels!.
Emily, Heidi, Paul, Seth and Jacob were all siblings!.
Some people think she got Edward's mom Elizabeth from her publisher!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I know she came up with the Cullen's names by choosing old fashioned names, as they were born a long time ago!. Bella was probably a name she liked, as the meaning does not describe bella at all!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
