I'm going to have to agree with Ryan!. What I really liked about this book was how realistic the author made it seem and how he depicts human behaviors!.

Summary: the story is about a group of boys that are stranded in an island!. It begins with all of them trying to survive together and have a civilized "society" but when the beast appears, alliances start to form!. Ralph and Piggy stick together and Jack and his group separate to form a less civilized group that worries mostly about having fun, getting food and expanding the myth of the beast!.

There are two notable deaths, Simon's and Piggy's!. Simon is killed because he knows the true story about the Parachute man and also about the "Lord of the Flies", Piggy dies in an attempt to get his glasses back from the savages (he is killed with a boulder)!. also, towards the end, the savages begin to try and kill Ralph by setting the whole island on fire!. Ironically, this is key to their finding by a warship that was nearby!.

When they are found by the naval officer, he is amazed at the stories and I believe he is disappointed!. Ralph begins to remember all that happened and mourns the death of Piggy!. The reader is exposed to various aspects of our human behaviors including apathy and greed!. At the end when the naval officer reaches the island, the savages become civilized again and they forget about their "issues"!.

I really liked this book and I believe it made such an impact and has so many positive things that there have been many things inspired on this book!. One of my favorite was the Simpson's adaptation of The Lord of the Flies!.

As far as the climax goes, I believe it begins with Piggy's death and with the hunt for Ralph!. It culminates with the arrival of the ship to the island and their return to civilization!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

The climax is of course the fire and the big hunt for Ralph, that is abruptly ended by the arrival of the ship!.

I love this book and was impressed by the believability of it!. When you talk about kids murdering each other, it's not really believable!. But he crafts the story and draws out the characters' primal instincts in such a way, that you can seriously wonder what would happen to human society in a situation like that!.

Please remember to pick a best answer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, previous answer nailed the climax - the fire!. The most impressive thing was that it is an allegory for christianity!. Simon is Christ, keep that in mind and his hideaway is heaven!. The island is not only a microcosm for society but for the garden of Eden and Original Sin!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
