Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
There is no first edition of Plato's "Republic" signed by the author, who was, of course, Plato! Plato lived in during the 400s BCE, so, obviously, the printing press had not yet been invented!. His works would have been hand written!. If an actual copy in Plato's hand were to be discovered to exist, it would be auctioned and sold for millions of dollars, slightly more than I could afford to pay, thus I would forego bidding!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Next joke!?

No original edition ever existed!. It was written about 2000 years before the first book was printed!. The original manuscripts were hand copied!. The oldest existing copy dates from around 1000 CE!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think if Plato signed the scroll, it would be in a museum!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
