Position:Home>Books & Authors> Which sentence sounds better?Question: Which sentence sounds better!? I'm writing a story, which sentence sounds better!?
He was a good enough looking guy!. or He was a good looking enough guy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I'm sorry, but I don't think either work particularly well as prose!. Why not try it as dialogue!? 'Is he good looking!?' asked Hermoine!. 'Good enough, I suppose,' Ginny replied!. 'Not as good-looking as Harry!.'Www@QuestionHome@Com Both are plain, dreary and boring!. I don't mean to sound like Simon Cowell, but they are!. Something like "His eyes were glistening with lust, with the face that was ageless, he could have been 30 or even 50 years old!. His body moved majestically, like the rhythm of a love poem!." It isn't perfect, far from it actually!. But it tells the reader he was a "good enough looking guy" and much more!. It's your choice!.Www@QuestionHome@Com The second is clumsy and not grammatically correct!. The first is fine, though I'm sure you could write it better! Try a bit more description, e!.g!. "He was good looking, attractive in a classical sense perhaps, with dark hair and a strong chin!." That sort of thing!. But you say you've written more, so perhaps we're all just reading it out of context and it fits just fine!. Still the first though!. the second is never correct!.Www@QuestionHome@Com personally speaking, I think If It was "Me" you were referring to you (which secretly!?, I know It Is) <Big Smile>,I liked the first one!. It has more Impact more Dynamics, a lot smoother!. Definitely sounds like me!. (Laugh out loud)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Definitely "He was a good looking enough guy"!. You have to cut the sentence up!. "Good enough looking" doesn't make as much sense as "Good looking enough"!. Www@QuestionHome@Com Neither really scans well (or should that be neither scans really well!?)!. How about "He was a good looking guy (which is what you need to convey), good looking enough for most people that is!."Www@QuestionHome@Com 1st!. Www@QuestionHome@Com He was a good enough looking guyWww@QuestionHome@Com The 1st one -nodds- Www@QuestionHome@Com I don't like either one!.
