Twi-haters.....What is the issue?

Twilight has been getting a lot of crap on this site and I just wanted to know why!. Don't just say that 'it sux' I want you're valid reasons as to why it is 'so horrible' That means more then four lines!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Um, I guess that it is because they have never read it!. I haven't, but I don't say that!. Another reason that they may not like it is that Harry Potter Fans are somewhat against it for bumping JK off the best selling list!. (me included :) AND because twilight is one of the main reasons why Harry Potter 6 was post-poned!. GRR!. LOL! hope I helped!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The characters are very flat!. Especially Bella!. The main draw of a character is change, and she is a character who never changes!. She is always perfect, always making predictable decisions, and always thinking predictable thoughts ("Oh no! This situation is horrible! There's absolutely no way EVER that ANYTHING can happen to make it change! It's hopeless!")

The first 3 books were decent, in terms of story, structure and a satisfying ending, but the 4th book sets itself up for a HUGE conflict at the end with lots of setup and suspense - but instead of conflict and action, we get mediocre dialogue and an unfinished-feeling ending!.

Having a final mediocre book in a series will affect how people feel about the entire series!. There was a lot of unmet expectation for book 4, and a lot of that resentment filtered into the entire series!.

People didn't want or expect the events of #4, a lot of the events seemed contrived, and a lot of them were just disturbing (the imprinting, the "nom nom nom" out of the womb, the characterization of the daughter, Bella's choices)

The writing is sophomoric!. It's not horrible, but it's not great literature and it has no deep metaphors or meaning!. It's just telling the story, without a deeper meaning about real life or about the real world!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't hate it!. I just get tired of teen girls clogging the Books & Authors section with questions about it!. Honestly, every other minute a question about Twilight is asked!. And it's not an original question, either, it's a question that's been asked a million times before!. I couldn't give two flying figs about vampires in love, and this is why Twilight really only appeals to teens!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There's horrible writing!. The sentence structure is choppy and there's too much purple prose!. Adjectives don't make the book!.
There's no romance whatsoever!. Just obsession!. Edward thinks Bella smells good and she thinks he's hot (trust me, Meyer mentions it enough)!.
The characters are annoying!. Their backgrounds at nothing to their personality!. They just seem like plot devices, inserted to make a comment or two!.
Bella is probably the most shallow and whiny character I've ever read about!. She doesn't like any of the other students and can't even remember half of their names, yet immediately falls in love with the beautiful loners!. She also treats her father with no respect just because he and her mother got a divorce!. My father and mother got a divorce because he's a DRUG ADDICT and yet I still refer to him as 'father'!. She's selfish and annoying, and is OBSESSED with becoming a vampire!. That's just sad!.
Edward is shallow and uninteresting!. Perfection gets annoying!. I can't stand to read another line that states 'he's gorgeous and looks like a god'!. However, perfection seems to be his only trait; there's not hint of personality behind him!.
The vampires are just!.!.!.ugh!. Sparkling!? Vegetarians (and I use that lightly since they eat bears)!. C'mon!.
The plot is cliche!. Girl moves to high school and falls in love with boy!.!.!.oh, but there's vampires! Please, vampires is too kind a word!.
Major plot holes!. Vampires can't have babies and, most likely, can't have sex!.

well basicly cause of what everyone else said (except Skilletfan) because SM is a bad writer who sounds like an obsessed 13 year old when she rambles on about edward and breaks the rules she makes without reason (nessie, what the poop!?!? vampires' bodies are DEAD! they cant have babies!)

but i would easily be able to dislike the book in peace (i tried to read the first one but almost killed myself in doing so) but the Twilight Twinkies (thank you Persiphone) have to reapet questions 5000 times, just look through the search bar and u'll see!.

and speaking of Persi, the rabid fangirls reported her for no reason then she understands literature and has a brain to see that twilight is a horrible book and the fans should leave!. they reported a lot of users too, and made their accounts deleted!. the twilight trolls were mercyless!. and so the war began!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I like a good vampire story, but the Twilight books completely failed to capture my interest!. Reading fiction requires the willing suspension of disbelief on the part of the reader, but it's the WRITER who makes that happen!. Two chapters of Twilight were enough to convince me that I would never be able to suspend my disbelief long enough to read the first book!.

The writing was mediocre!. Insipid!. Flat!. Dull!. It wasn't alive, at least for me!.

And I positively loathe books whose main characters never DO anything other than whine about all the horrible things that happen TO them!. The whole point of a main character is that they ACT!. Their character drives the plot just as much as it is influenced by the plot!. When I read a character who sits around and waits for something to happen TO them, instead of DOING something, the book gets put in a stack labeled "Needs a New Home!."

And then, as everyone else has said, the Twi-Twinkies ask the same questions over and over and over and OVER AND OVER AND OVER!. When they typed their question in the box, did they not see the list of similar and related questions that popped up!? Did it not occur to them that if they see such a list, their question has ALREADY been asked!? When a new Twilight book would come out, no one could ask anything on here!. There were so many Twilight questions that within minutes of being posted, a question would no longer be on page 1 or 2 - it would be 10 or 12 pages back in the Books section!. A lot of people who answer questions only look at the first page or two, and then they hit "Refresh!." So TONS of great questions were going unanswered because no one could find them!. And all because of 5 and 10 pages of Twilight questions that if sorted out, could have been combined to make no more than 5 or 6 total questions!. Everything else was a needless repeat!.

And every single time someone posts a question that says "Please recommend books for me!. I HAVE ALREADY READ TWILIGHT so please don't mention it" - they'll get half a dozen answers that say, "OMG! U HV GOT 2 RD TWILIGHT!" And then every other answer, that mentions something other than Twilight, gets thumbed-down by the Twi-Twinkies who come en masse to be rude to people who prefer other types of fiction!.

I love the Harry Potter books!. But I wouldn't dream of posting here the way the Twilight fans do!. When I want up-to-the-minute news about the Harry Potter books or movies, or I want to discuss theories and engage in speculations with other fans who are as obsessed as I am, I GO TO A SITE DEDICATED TO HARRY POTTER!. Everyone at those sites already knows what the topic is!. We're not driving anyone away by trying to monopolize a public bulletin board - we're gathering all the like-minded people to a dedicated bulletin board!. So why can't the Twilighters do the same thing!? Instead of taking all the space here and being rude to people who don't like the books, go find a Twilight web site that is similar to Mugglenet!.com or LeakyLounge!.com!.

Well, I gotta tell you i did not hate twilight!.!.!.I hated the rest of the series becuase it was a load of bull and that they were soooo horribly writ and the characters were flat as he double hockey sticks!. I agree completely with CrAzY hOrSeY mE!! ,Hp_ resource , and David M beacuse they are absolutely right!!! Especially with Crazy horse me becuse the HP movie was going to be ON MY BIRTHDAY and they MOVED IT because of this f***ing movie where the actors are ****!. MOVE HP BACK!!

i dont see why people hat it either! Whats thier problem! I agree with you! Twilight is an exciteing , cliff hanging, book that rocks socks!
Oh well, everybody has thier own taste!. but still stephyny meyer is a great author! She uses big words and has a great flow with her storys, so i dont see why there are haters!?!?!?!!?!!?!!?!
