Question: What to do with the short fantasy stories I've written and am writing!?
Hi, I'm working on a series of short stories that are actually very good!. I also am working on a long story of the sort of end times in my fantasy world!. The short stories work as a sort of prequal or the events that take place before the main books, and I was wondering if companies accept short stories to be made into a novel!? or do they excpect it to be 300-500 pages for each story!? I can do two to three stories per book for about three books before i actually begin on the main novels!. I already have a lot planned out on paper for the novels, and I have some wonderful short stories already written (some are scary, some are life lessons, other are just fun adventures)!. I'm just wondering about what to do!. Thanks!Www@QuestionHome@Com

generally, a collection of short stories by an unknown author do not sell!. You can try to get them individually published in magazines that accept the genre!.

Since most of the short stories are prequels to the "main novels", you should probably work more on the main story, since this is likely the story readers would be first initerested in (and a publisher might want)!. After that, you may be able to rework the prequels into a second book!.

I would invest in a current Writer's Market!. The Writer's Market is a guide to help you find places to publish your work!. You will find the Writer's Market guide at your library or any book store!. Each publisher will have a different set of guidelines but, I feel that a compilation of short stories in one book would be a wonderful idea!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

To wet peoples appetite for your work you can try posting them on a writing site!. This will help to get some exposure and feedback!. I'm on this cool writing site called http://www!.chapteread!.com, it's definitely worth checking out!. Since publishers are in the business to make money then building a fan base and then approaching a publisher sound like a more reasonable approach!. Some authors have already done this and have been successful!. Good luck and I'll be looking out for a story or two on http://www!.chapteread!.comWww@QuestionHome@Com
