Question: What sparked your interest to start reading books!?
I started reading books when I was in 3rd grade!. I used to have a tutor, and I'd go to her house and study!. I sometimes use her bathroom, and out of boredom I'd flick through the Archie Comics that she had lying around!.

So yeah, that's how it all started!. Now I'm a total bookworm!. (And proud!) I'm really glad that I discovered the wonders of reading!. I just wish that everyone was into reading!. :)

Now, your turn! Fire away!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I grew up in a house with a family of readers, and rooms lined with bookcases!. When we went on holidays, we were always taken to bookshops!. Guess my love of books is in the genes! People who don't read don't know what they're missing!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I started reading books written by authoritative and strong authors from my young age!. I am now 67!. I am not interested in reading junks out of which no worthwhile information can be followed in our day to day life for our betterment!. Nor it will be serving the society!. Most of the printing materials now coming out in the market are worth preserving for a month maximum!.

Useful books should be such, which we can preserve throughout our life!. Keeping books and acquiring knowledge is not at all sufficient, unless such knowledge is put into action!. 'Knowledge is power'!. I agree!. If the knowledge is not applied, exhibited or demonstrated in one's day to day life, it is useless!. Mere preaching and doing diametrically opposite in life is of no use!. Like people preaching about non-smoking but they themselves smoke!. This is an example!.

There is a difference!. Reading volumes and volumes and deriving only one lesson out of it after wasting long time of study!. And reading a solid book containing full of useful ideas and principles, every sentence from such books can be useful for our practical life!. I want such books only!. We should not read books just for time killing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Being a dyslexic, it was very difficult for me to read as a child!. I used to take me over a month to read a Hardy Boys book when I was in the 8th grade!.

In the middle 1980's when BBS's were the rage and we had 1200 baud modems, when I was in chat, the words were coming slow enough across the screen, I could actually keep up!.

It was through this reading cycle that I learned to keep my eyes moving from left to right and drop down to the second line routinely!.

Later in my work as a photographer and researcher for a famous author, I was required to write narratives of my research and began to become a decent writer !.!.!. a few years later I actually co-authored a book and three screen plays with her!.

Now I read at least three books a week and try to write at least six pages a day on one of the works that is in progress!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was my mother, who was always an avid reader!.

I know I was a young child, but I'm not sure of the exact age!. My family and I were on vacation and staying in a rented house!. It was pouring outside so there wasn't much to do!. I went to my mother and told her I was bored!. I remember, distinctly, my mother using that old cliche "life is a bore to a bore" and then she told me to read!. I was stung by the saying, so I began to read!. The first book I remember reading and the one which turned me into a bookworm was Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen!. I was too young to understand the satire aspect of it, and I probably missed some nuances, but I loved it!. I've never been without a book since!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well when i was 7 i was given a copy of the first harry potter book, but i was way too young and couldnt get into it!. now my best friend and i used to have this sort of rivalry and i just had to be better than her (weve grown out of it now)!. so a couple months after getting the book she starts telling me how shes onto the second book and its the best story ever!. so in my effort to not be outdone i go on a book binge and finish up to the end of book 3 (the others still werent out yet)!. i really enjoyed it and while i waited for the next book i decided to read something else!. i got kind of caught up and now im this huge bookworm with over 20 requests waiting for me at the library!. I started reading in kindergarten!. Before the start of the school year, my family and I went to our home country for a roughly six month stay!. Which meant that, when we came back, it was January and half of my kindergarten year had gone by!. I was extremely shy and would not say one word to anyone in class or play with anyone!. My teacher thought I couldn't speak English, when I actually could, so she put me in a bilingual class where we were taught to read!. From then on, during playtime, I'd read the books we had in class, especially Dr Seuss!. The teacher encouraged me, and I remember her letting me read Dr Seuss's ABC to the class!.

I like your story, much cooler :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I rad Robinson Crusoe on my grandpa's home when I were 6; Probably Dutch printed; He was a teacher!. Grandma probably kept alot of his books in a large metal box to kept it tidy and neat!. I thought had found a treasure at that time when accidentally saw it in the unspacious room above ceiling where she putted old stuff!. It was a long school holiday while my brother and I visited her!.
Grandpa passed away while I were baby so I decided to said never met him alive!.I thought he must be a smart, strong and wise person, I could saw it from his pictures!.!.!.(and people knew him said so!.!.)

As I remember, it was a heavy book and big!. I really excited an finished rad the book there and more since that!.!.up to know!.
From that room I could see the beautiful scenary, my village lay on the mountanious landscape on Sumatera island, Indonesia!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, actually thanks to my mom!. My dad and bro dont even touch books!. When I was kindergarten age, my mom used to buy me those fancy colourful children mags!. I still dont know how to read that time,so my my mom read them for me!. If she wasnt around, I spent my time looking at the pictures!. It continued till I learnt how to read!. I become bookworm eversince!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would have to say that teachers initiated it however, once you got older, it became all up to you!.

I continue to read because of John Grisham and James Patterson!. If you want to read one of their books, read John Grisham's "The Street Lawyer" or James Patterson's Woman Murder Club Series which starts out with the book,

1st to Die
2nd Chance
3rd Degree
4th of July
5th Horseman
6th Target

My older sister would come home with books from school and I was just fascinated with the pictures and words!. We did not have very many books in our house and I dont remember my parents ever reading anything beyond the T!.V!. guide!. So when she unloaded her backpack it just seemed extra special that she had these books with her!.

As a kid I worshipped my sister and followed her around everywhere!. My mom tells me I used to cry because my sister wouldnt let me "do homework"!. I didnt understand the concept but knew it must be something special since she was doing it!. Part of her homework was reading for 20 minutes so my mom would make her read to me to keep me from crying!.

I started to read at a really young age because of that!. I could read a few books at three and at four they brought me to the school for some testing!. I walked into the library and started to freak out that there were so many books!. I didnt want to sit down and take the test but to pull a book down and start reading!. The librarian thought it was cute so she told all the teachers and they always got excited to see me!. They were constantly giving me books and it made me think reading must be something very special!.

When I got older I was teased for being such a bookworm but those early experiences made me resistant to any of the names!. I loved books and it ended up being my key to later success!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
