Somebody mentioned Angel Clare and i have to say that i thought so at the start of Tess of the D'Urbervilles also but he was so spiteful for what was not the fault of Tess that i turned against him for a while!. That is until the end, he was lovely when they got away from Alec, spending their last days together!.
also, i never really like Heathcliff too much, i did prefer Mr Rochester in Jane Eyre better, brooding but appealing!.
I like Stephen from I Capture the Castle, he's so caring and hugable; how he doted on Cassandra and supported the whole family for her and when he saved up to get her the radio!.
