Sometimes she misuses words!. That bothered me!.
Some of her sentences don't have a subject or they are run ons!. Other time she havd two complete sentences only separated by a comma, which annoyed me to no end!.
Some of the sentences in the novel are just awful =\!.
In BD, Charlie is eating cereal!. In the next paragraph, he's eating pancakes!. That one didn't bother me too much, but it got on a lot of peoples' nerves!.
There are a lot of spelling mistakes, and you are right, the "" are missing sometimes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Aside from several misspelled words, there are missing quotation marks gone wild in the Twilight series books!.

Contrary to the answer given by "Mrs!. Edward Cullen," missing quotation marks are actually typographical errors!. (My masters degree in English from UCLA's gotta count for something other than winning at Scrabble, right!?)

When a character speaks, regardless of a paragraph break or not, there must be a beginning set of quotation marks and and end set of quotation marks!.

In my experience of reading Stephenie Meyer's books, there are often beginning quotation marks, but no ending quotations, so another character seemingly interjects over the first one's dialogue!. It's immensely confusing at times!.

Next: to add to the ever-growing list of pet peeves of over-used words and phrases, I submit the "He smiled, but the smile didn't touch his eyes!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

I didn't notice spelling and grammar errors so much, and I normally do, but I read the British version which is published by a different company so it's possible they were corrected!. I did get to a point where seeing the word "chagrin", "grimace" or "amble" made me want to kick things - they were so ridiculously overused, and sometimes not really in the right context!. That annoyed me a lot!. And the wording of a lot of the sentences was very awkward!. It was just poorly written overall!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm only 50 pages into "Twilight" (and then only at the urging of my niece), and already I've noticed several errors that should have been caught!.

This problem certainly isn't unique to the editors of "Twilight," however!. You can see the same slapdash editing job in the American first editions of the Harry Potter books and in the entire line of Starscape Books publications (Andre Norton's "Octagon Magic" is a particularly egregious example)!. Any time a company sees the chance to make some money--say, a rush to press before the holiday season--they seem to forgo the copyediting in the race to get it out the door!.

Can you tell this is a pet peeve!? Grrrrr!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've noticed this too, but not only in this book!. Many other books have this too!. It's not just the authors fault though!. The editors have a job!. It kind of irks me though!. I would rather spelling mistakes to pages missing or misplaced!. I had a book once that had three chapters moved to the back of the book backwards so I had to read backwards then go forwards then skip what I read!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sometimes i pick up something!.!.

As for the quotation marks, it's not a typo or lazy!.
If there's a big passage (eg: Jasper's rant on newborns) and he's starting a new paragraph, but still continuing talking without the Cullens or Bella interrupting him, Stephenie doesn't have to end with closing the "", because that would mean a new speaker!.

It would just confuse the crap outta everyone if she DID close the ""
'coz we'd get lost with who's talking!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That's not a mistake!. If the person is talking more than one paragraph, there is no need for a "" in every paragraph!. That's not a typo!. Like when someone is telling a story in the story, there are going to be different parts!. You have to separate those parts with paragraphs and there isn't need for ""!. So, that's not a mistake!. But there are some things, like how the books say that Edward killed James when really, he had not part in that!. Emmett and Jasper did!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I caught three typos in New Moon, one of which was a missing set of quotation marks!.

At first I kept re-reading the same paragraph over and over asking myself "Wait!.!.!. WHO is talking here!?" I resolved the question on my 5th pass, telling myself I was simply too tired and it was my fault for reading right before bed

(Note to self: STOP reading the Twilight series at bedtime! It causes freakish nightmares!)

Anyway, I thought the "imaginary typos" were my own fault for reading so late at night, but by the time I'd caught two more typos the following morning, I surmised they're getting sloppy over there at Little, Brown trying to churn out more books for us hungry pack of readers!. (bad, unintended Jacob pun, sorry!.!.!.)

Thanks for letting us know you saw them, too! At least now I know I'm not imagining things!. Or not imagining the typos, at least!. As far as my imaginary romance with Edward!? That's another thing altogether!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have found a few here and there but nothing to major!. It's sort of expected in a book so long!. I actually found one the other night in Eclipse it was like 'ike' instead of 'like' little stuff like that!. But I'm not necessarily looking for it, so their may be more!.!.!.
I haven't noticed the quotations missing!.!.!.sometimes people pick up talking after a descriptive paragraph so I just shrugged it off!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I've totally noticed that!! Especially the thing about the quotation marks! but stephenie meyer isn't exactly the most intelligent writer in the world!. don't get me wrong, i love her books but I'm honestly not too surprised that she would make spelling/grammar mistakes!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes!. I've found a lot of errors!. But I can't remember them anymore!. I just know that there are a lot!. And sometimes Stephenie is mixing up and using the wrong words!.

I've noticed in Twilight that it's not well-written!. I don't think Meyer and her editors realize that!.

LASWww@QuestionHome@Com

I noticed that too! There's no " at the end of someone talking, only in the beggining!. I noticed a spelling error somewhere in new moon or eclipse but I don't remember where!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have heard people say that Meyer made someone say "!!!!" in BD!. There's also the annoying overuse of "chagrin"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's just sloppy writing!. They like getting something out there knowing it will be a hit and they know teenagers will eat it up regardless of how messy the forum is!.!.!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

um, i havent, but i was listeing to Imprint(twilight podcast) and they said they didWww@QuestionHome@Com
