Position:Home>Books & Authors> Explain the difference between fiction and non-fiction books with eg. and list fQuestion: Explain the difference between fiction and non-fiction books with eg!. and list few good books in both section!? Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: FICTION: The storyline is made up by the author!. It CAN be based around a proper time period and event in that period (for example, a book can be written about the bombing of pearl harbor) but the characters and sub storyline of the characters are made up (there is a romance going on between two people, etc) 1!. Harry Potter - fiction because JK Rowling conceived it all in her mind!. None of it is based on anything true!. 2!. To Kill a Mockingbird Yes, this is based on a real problem - racism in America!. But it is a work of fiction because the characters and plot did not actually occur!. 3!. Pride and Prejudice This is fiction because the characters and storyline are made up!. Although something similar could have easily happened in Jane Austin's time, the specific events she wrote about and the characters they happened to are not true!. NON-FICTION Non-fiction books are FACTUAL books that deliver information about specific things and events!. The facts in these books are all true and accurate!. Some examples of non-fiction books are Encyclopedias, Cooking Books, the Guiness Book of World Records!. !.!.!. There are also a lot of sub genres in between them, such as Historical Fiction Science Fiction etc!. They make the subject of the fiction novel more specific to someone who needs information on it, but they still contain the word 'fiction' and are still the work of an author's imagination!.
