My LA teacher was telling us about this story by Edgar Allen Poe and how the main character was in jail and there wasn't one jail that he hadn't escaped from!. and this jail was inescapable!. and he meets this old man who is a highly trusted jailbird and he is responsible for bringing the dead bodies and burying them!. and the main character convinces the old man after like 2 years to do this: when the next person dies, and the gong rings, the main character will go to the "death room" and get into the coffin that had the body in it and then the old man will bring the coffin out to the courtyard and bury it and then a half an hour later, he will dig him back up and they will both escape!. but the main character gets worried when the old man doesn't come, so he decides that in that dark coffin, which he cant see his hand in front if his face and the stench from the dead body, he will see one flame of light from the match he kept in his pocket, before he dies, using the last bit of oxygen in the coffin!. he lights the match, and the old man is in the coffin with him, dead!. they both died!.!.!. the end!.!.!.
this story is by edgar allen poe and im not sure what its called, but i think the name of the room where they kept the bodies may have something to do with it!.!. the room is called like the death room or the dark room or the black room or something!.!. im not sure if its one of his short stories or a novel, or what!.!. PLEASE, i need to know the name of this story/novel!.
